A 10-year-old Suffolk girl who died of COVID had been assigned at school to walk with sick students to nurse's office

A 10-year-old girl in Suffolk died Monday from COVID-19 after being tasked with walking sick children in her class to the clinic, her mother wrote on Facebook. She is the 12th person in Virginia younger than 20 to die from the virus.

New chance for old idea: Senators push historic tax credits to renovate schools

Chesterfield County Public Schools surpasses 1,000 COVID-19 cases among students

"Most of the outbreaks that we are seeing in schools are small, usually limited in size to 2 to 4 individuals," Chesterfield Health District Director Dr. Alexander Samuel said in a statement Wednesday. "We've seen some larger outbreaks on school sports teams." Meadowbrook High's outbreak of five cases is resolving, with no new cases forming.

Hampton City Schools marks renaming of two schools

Division leaders rolled out signs for the Albert Patrick III Elementary School and the Anne Kilgore Gifted Center. HAMPTON, Va. - Some Hampton City Schools are getting a fresh start this year. The division changed the name of five schools, getting rid of some titles that had a connection to slavery and the Jim Crow era.

Northampton Supervisors vote to proceed with bond sale for school renovations - Shore Daily News

Watch Now: Dearington Elementary School students prepare gift bags for hospitalized children

Students at Dearington Elementary School for Innovation spent some time giving back this week - making cards and packing gift bags to be delivered to children at Centra's Lynchburg General Hospital.
