School board fields pushback over vaccination policy

Kellam High School unveils dolphin statue painted by students

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Kellam High School in Virginia Beach held an unveiling of a new statue on its campus that was painted by some of its very own students. Titled "A Dolphin's Promise," the statue represents the school as well as support for children in the community and around the world.

Chesterfield officials announce two new middle schools to be paid off with $130 million in bonds

Chesterfield County officials on Wednesday announced a new Falling Creek Middle School and a brand new middle school to be located along the western U.S. Route 360 Hull Street Road corridor, facilities that are to welcome students for the 2024-25 school year.

Frederick County School Board quietly addressed transgender policy in June

WINCHESTER - While public dissent against transgender student rights is growing at Frederick County School Board meetings, the board and division officials have released little information about their stance on the matter. Last year, Virginia passed a law, 22.1-23.3, that requires school divisions to enact policies protecting transgender students by the start of the current school year.

Richmond Schools parents anxious as students head back for first day of in-person classes

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Some Richmond Public Schools students returned to the classroom today for the first time in more than a year.
