Arlington schools to give parents more control over when students use school-issued devices - WTOP News

Arlington Public Schools in Virginia is rolling out a new content filter that will give parents more control over when students use their county-issued devices. At Thursday's school board meeting, Superintendent Francisco Durán said the new tool, called Lightspeed, would replace Global Protect, which the school system currently uses.

A punch list is a manager tool that's used to make sure the terms of a contract have been checked off and satisfied. Montgomery County School Board approves collective bargaining measure

CHRISTIANSBURG - The Montgomery County School Board passed a measure Tuesday night that will allow collective bargaining, a process many teachers said will lead to improvements in working conditions and education for students. The resolution, which the board approved on a 5-2 vote, was made possible due to the General Assembly in 2020 passing legislation that legalized collective bargaining for public employees.

HCPS Teacher Named Finalist In Presidential Math And Science Teaching Award

A Harrisonburg educator has been named one of Virginia's finalists for the 2023 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Erich Sneller, an honors STEM chemistry and Spanish-language environmental science teacher at Harrisonburg High School, is a science finalist for the award, Virginia Secretary of Education Aimee Guidera announced Monday.

Mobile dairy classroom visits Grayson schools

INDEPENDENCE Morgan Cole of Southland Dairy Farmers gave a 30-minute lesson in dairy products and farming at Grayson County schools, with moo-ving commentary from Clover, the cow brought along to demonstrate milking. The presentation was part of the fulfillment of a grant given to the Grayson County FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of American) for their student body project.
