Cole named new Northampton Superintendent - Shore Daily News

Northampton County Schools announced Thursday evening Associate Superintendent Jaime D. Cole will be the next Superintendent of Schools. Her new position will be effective July 1, 2022. With more than 23 years of experience in education, Cole previously served as a superintendent, associate superintendent, principal, assistant principal, academic instructional coach, and an elementary and special education teacher.

RCPS School Board Ahead Of General Assembly Literacy Mandate

Rockingham County Public Schools has found itself ahead of the game when it comes to literacy, and the School Board will hear a presentation on new General Assembly legislation at a meeting on Monday. Recently, the General Assembly passed legislation on structured literacy that must be implemented by all school divisions beginning with the 2024-25 school year.

Bayside High student dies after collapsing during conditioning

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Bayside High School student died after collapsing during conditioning Wednesday. Hanover County Public Schools rewrites proposed student code of conduct change after concerns raised

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) - Hanover County Public Schools has removed language from a proposed change to its student code of conduct regarding demonstrations that one parent called "unconstitutional" and "un-American" when it was first presented to the School Board.

G.W. Carver Elementary School surprises teacher with Virginia-theme vacation

Salem, Va. - G.W. Carver Elementary School in Salem surprised a teacher with a vacation. Terri Vangelos' name was submitted through the Virginia Lottery's 'Thank a Teacher' campaign. She was one of four winners selected from almost 6,000 entries. "It is exciting," said Vangelos, a librarian.

Southwest, central Virginia high schools, middle schools win teen driver safety campaign challenge

(WFXR) - Several southwest and central high schools and middle schools are being recognized for their efforts to bring awareness about driver and passenger safety. It was part of the Arrive Alive: Buckle Up and Slow Down campaign put together by Youth of Virginia Speak Out About Traffic Safety (YOVASO), the Virginia State Police (VSP), the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) High Safety Office, and State Farm.
