Career and technical grants announced for seven Virginia school divisions

RICHMOND, Va. (WDBJ) - Governor Ralph Northam Tuesday announced $1.5 million in grants to seven school divisions to implement career and technical education programs to "prepare students for high-wage, in-demand careers." The Career and Technical Education High School Innovation Grant program provides one-time funding for school divisions, according to Northam, to help students earn high school diplomas, industry-recognized credentials and associate degrees in five years or less.

Page County Public Schools providing vaccine for children

PAGE COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) - Page County Public Schools took to Facebook to announce that they are partnering with the Lord Fairfax Health District to provide COVID-19 vaccinations for kids ages 5-11. A parent or guardian must be present with the child at the free vaccine clinic.

Richmond school leaders reverse course on vaccine mandate disciplinary action

RICHMOND, Va. -- Monday night, the Richmond School Board voted to halt disciplinary action against school employees who don't comply with their vaccine mandate - which required most employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19 by Oct.1. Orginally, those who did not get vaccinated and did not have a medical or religious exemption faced discipline up to and including loss of employment.
