Fauquier High School seniors reflect on 'historic' road to graduation

In the school's first back-to-normal graduation ceremony since 2019, about 340 Fauquier High School seniors received diplomas Tuesday evening at Falcon Field as families watched and cheered from the packed stands. It was a refreshing dose of tradition for the young people whose high school careers were severely disrupted by a worldwide pandemic.

WJCC School Board Approves Near $184M Fiscal 2023 Budget With 7% Increase in Staff Pay | Williamsburg Yorktown Daily

WILLIAMSBURG-JAMES CITY COUNTY - The Williamsburg-James City County (WJCC) School Board unanimously approved its proposed fiscal year 2023 operating budget at its Tuesday, May 17 regular meeting. The near $184 million budget includes $159,905,000 for the operating fund, $16,619,500 for the grants fund, $1,163,700 for the state operated programs fund and $5,832,000 for the child nutrition services fund.

Henrico students named VBA contest winners - The Henrico Citizen

Ronit Jain Two high school students from the Henrico area won thousands in scholarship money from the Virginia Bankers Association Education Foundation. Students were asked to write about their experience participating in the VBA Bank Day Scholarship program, an initiative that teaches Virginia students about finance, industry, and the role of banks in communities.

FCPS adopts 4-day school week for 2022-23 - The Tidewater News

The Franklin City School Board voted 4-1 during its May 5 work session to adopt a proposed four-day school week schedule for the 2022-23 school year. Ward 1 Board Member Robert Holt was the lone dissenting vote, and Ward 4 Board Member Marchelle F. Williams and Ward 6 Board Member Jerry McCreary were absent.

Prince William County Schools changes Code of Behavior

The Code of Behavior is changing in Prince William County Public Schools. Moving forward, the number of days a student is suspended for bad behavior has decreased. The school board made the plan official during Wednesday night's vote. School officials believe students being removed from the classroom as punishment does more harm than good.
