LCPS hosting fentanyl awareness sessions

After multiple Northern Virginia students overdosed and died in the last few months, Loudoun County Public Schools is hosting a series of fentanyl awareness sessions for families.

Stafford School Board approves budget requesting $49.3M in new funding

At a special meeting Tuesday, the Stafford School Board approved a $442 million operating budget for fiscal year 2024, which begins July 1. The budget asks for $49.3 million in new funding from the county Board of Supervisors, which is $29 million more than Superintendent Thomas Taylor proposed in his budget.

PCPS proposes dual enrollment academy

Pulaski County Public Schools is proposing a program that allows students to graduate high school with an associate's degree from New River Community College. Pulaski County School Board chair Becky Cox sees the pathway to an associates program, unofficially titled "Cougar Scholars" as a "win" for Pulaski County students.

Gloucester school board discusses budget

The Gloucester School Board met Tuesday night in the T.C. Walker Education Center to continue discussion of its 2023-2024 budget. Chief Financial Officer Heather Lucas and Gloucester County Public School Superintendent Dr. Walter Clemons presented an updated version of the superintendent's recommended budget. The budget was last reviewed in January.

Alleghany Highlands Public Schools is moving forward with plans to consolidate schools. The division will start on cosmetic projects, like replacing fixtures in classrooms and painting the walls of buildings, this spring. School officials are planning the projects to minimize class disruptions.
