PCPS names new principals, leadership at three schools and central office | Education |

PVN staff report Over the past two months, Page County Public Schools has announced five new appointments in leadership roles for the upcoming 2022-23 school year, including two new elementary school principals, an assistant principal, a program coordinator at the Tech Center, and a new central office staff member.

COVID update: RPS ends contact tracing for summer school, mask mandate stays

Richmond Public Schools is forgoing daily contact tracing but is keeping its mask mandate for summer instruction. The School Board received updated COVID-19 guidance this week for the period that begins on June 27 and ends Aug. 19. Additional updated guidance for the 2022-23 school year is slated to be provided to the board later this summer.

Rolfe Middle School adopts new mascot - The Henrico Citizen

John Rolfe Middle School has a new mascot: the jaguars. Formerly the "Indians," two Rolfe students undertook an effort to change the mascot two years ago. Their project came to fruition on Thursday as they announced the new name at a Henrico School Board meeting.

The interviews will take place 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 28 and 29 HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Hampton City Schools is holding a virtual teacher recruitment fair next week in hopes of starting teachers in the fall. The virtual interviews will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Navy veteran takes helm of transportation for Culpeper public schools

Steven Bagley Jr. is the new Director of Transportation Operations for Culpeper County Public Schools, as of June 15, according to a division release. He brings with him five years of experience in public education transportation in Falls Church City and Loudoun County.

Hanover lunch lady inducted into Virginia's Lunch Hall of Fame

HANOVER Co, Va. (WWBT) - Hanover school cafeteria manager Renee Jewel is getting some major recognition from No Kid Hungry Virginia and the county. Jewel, who works at Washington-Henry Elementary School, was recently inducted into Virginia's School Lunch Hall of Fame. She says it's an honor she never expected.

New principal, vice principal named at Brumfield Elementary

Tara Kidwell, formerly an assistant principal in Prince William County, will be the new principal at James G. Brumfield Elementary School. Megan Howland, a literacy coach in the Fauquier County School Division, will be the new vice principal. The Fauquier County School Board approved the new hires at a special meeting Wednesday, June 22.

Campbell County Board of Supervisors tour new Rustburg Middle School

Roughly six months before students will enter the building for the first time, the Campbell County Board of Supervisors toured the under-construction Rustburg Middle School this past week, getting a sneak peek at the brand-new building. As of now, the school is scheduled to open to students in January 2023, when the spring semester starts.

Longtime Crozet principal to retire

After a dozen years leading Crozet Elementary, Gwedette Crummie is retiring, according to a recent announcement to the school community. Crummie, the division's longest-tenured principal, will step down this summer before the school welcomes 219 students from Brownsville Elementary following a redistricting approved earlier this year.
