Dates announced for FCPS superintendent 'listening tour'

George Hummer, who became superintendent of Frederick County Public Schools earlier this year, will embark on a "listening tour" beginning next week as he continues to execute his three-part entry plan, according to a school division media release.

Roanoke County School Board member Mike Wray won't seek reelection

Mike Wray, the Roanoke County School Board member representing the Cave Spring district, says he will not seek re-election. In a letter sent to Roanoke County parents on Monday, Wray, who has been on the board since 2015, said that he will step down, opting instead to focus on family time.

Future of free virtual tutoring service in Arlington schools unclear

What is going to happen to the free digital tutoring service made available to all Arlington, Virginia, middle and high school students? The school system's proposed fiscal 2024 budget doesn't include funding for the program called Paper, which provided sixth through 12th graders in Arlington Public Schools with free virtual, on-demand tutoring help.

School board OKs $2.8 million budget hike

Pulaski County School Board passed a proposed $67.7 million 2023-24 fiscal year budget, representing a $2.8 million increase over the current year's budget and a $2 million increase in requested local funding. The proposal now goes to Pulaski County Board of Supervisors for action.
