August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM). This annual observance highlights the importance of getting recommended vaccines throughout your life. We know the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all aspects of life, including your ability to attend important appointments and receive routine vaccinations. During NIAM, we encourage you to talk to your doctor, nurse or healthcare provider to ensure you and your family are protected against serious diseases by getting caught up on routine vaccination.
|
|
As your children head back to school this fall, it’s particularly important for you to work with your child’s doctor or nurse to make sure they get caught up on missed well-child visits and recommended vaccines.
Remember to take care of yourself too! Make sure to receive any vaccines you need to stay healthy. Use CDC’s adult vaccine assessment tool to see which vaccines might be right for you.

While efforts are underway to develop online transaction models for WIC, currently allowable online ordering options with in-person transaction and pick-up have expanded in recent years, spurred on by the COVID-19 pandemic. This report summarizes learnings and observations based on these early online ordering efforts (occurring in 2020–2021), to support a better understanding of the current state of WIC online ordering, build on early lessons learned, and identify potential next steps to grow and improve these nascent offerings. It is intended as a resource to WIC state and local agencies, WIC authorized vendors and other stakeholders interested in supporting WIC online ordering options in their communities and increasing access to these options.

Protect Those Who Protect Us
Nearly two and a half years into the COVID-19 pandemic, cases and
hospitalizations have been on the rise, driven by the BA.5 lineage of the Omicron variant. More than a million people in the United States have died from COVID-19, and almost 90 million cases have been reported. The pandemic has taken a tremendous toll on healthcare providers and public health workers, who are dealing with crisis levels of stress and burnout.

Splash Pads
Splash pads (also known as interactive fountains, spray pads, spray parks, or wet decks) are aquatic venues that spray or jet water. Splash pads are usually designed so that standing water does not collect in the water play area to reduce the risk of drowning. Splash pads can spread germs and make users sick if the water is not adequately disinfected. So, users and parents of young users should take their own steps to stop the spread of germs.
