DURING THIS 3rd WAVE OF COVID, YOUR EMPLOYER IS ONCE AGAIN IMPLEMENTING ITS "EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLAN." AS A RESULT, YOU ARE BEING ASKED OR IN SOME CASES MANDATED TO WORK OUTSIDE OF YOUR PATHWAY.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
ORIENTATING to a unit means you are learning new things with a preceptor/educator.

ACCLAMATION is when you take a tour around the unit to find out where the (e.g., crash cart, Pyxis, supplies, etc.) are located. ACCLAMATION DOES NOT TEACH NEW SKILLS!
IF YOU DECIDE TO TAKE AN ASSIGNMENT OUTSIDE OF YOUR CLINICAL PATHWAY:
  • "Be Specific" about your area of expertise.

  • While on assignment should you determine if any part of the duties you can’t handle and/or object to use your “ASSIGNMENT DESPITE OBJECTION FORM” within 48 hours.

  • Accessing patient charts for documenting may prove difficult when reassigned out of your pathway bump the liability up, tell a manager, document whom you spoke to/their response.

  • Protect your license at all times!
