I hope you're continuing to do well personally and academically as our semester continues. While the calendar says that we've moved into fall, the weather is yet to cooperate as we experience another local heatwave. But, no matter the weather, your Grossmont College family is here to support you!
Here are some important updates about virtual campus resources and services:
San Diego Food Bank Distribution
Gizmo's Kitchen, our campus food pantry, has partnered with the San Diego Food Bank for a drive-through food distribution event from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. on October 20. To participate, you must be a currently enrolled student. You can register online at
shorturl.at/adF38.
This is a physically distanced event where volunteers will place food bag(s) into the trunk of each vehicle. Additional drive-through food distributions will take place on November 17 and December 15.
Remote Wifi in Lot 4
Earlier this month, Grossmont College launched free remote wifi in Lot 4 on the north side of campus. It will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will be monitored by Campus and Parking Services (CAPS).
To access free remote wifi, use (case-sensitive):
SSID network: GRS-LOT4
Passcode: Earns-2021-degree
Below are our guidelines for use:
- Parking allowed in Lot 4 only
- Use unmarked spaces
- Only owners of a valid disabled placard may use disabled parking spaces
- No building, restroom, services or power access
- For best reception, use parking spaces near buildings
- Campus and Parking Services (CAPS) will monitor parking lot
- Remember to adhere to these health and safety practices:
- Only members of the same household in each vehicle
- All occupants must remain in vehicle at all times
- Use every other space (empty space between vehicles)
Transfer Application Assistance
Are you applying to transfer to a university for fall 2021 admission? Transfer applications to campuses in the University of California and California State University systems are due later this semester.
Thankfully, the Transfer Center has several resources to help you, including live-streamed "Question and Answer" (Q & A) sessions and a Canvas course. To learn more about available resources, visit the
Transfer Center's Application Assistance page for details.
Drive-Through Flu Shot Clinic
On Monday, Oct. 19, Grossmont College Health & Wellness, in partnership with the County of San Diego and Champions for Health, will offer free flu shots as part of a drive-through clinic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Face masks are required to participate and pre-registration is advised as quantities are limited.
Career Expo
On October 28, Grossmont College will host its annual Career Expo online in partnership with the East County Chamber of Commerce and the San Diego Workforce Partnership. Students and community members are welcome to participate in this free event where they can meet and network with in-demand employers.
Register online to participate in this year's Career Expo.
Financial Aid Virtual Help Desk
Do you have a question about financial aid and scholarships, completing your FAFSA or Dream Act application, or BankMobile?
Visit the Financial Aid Virtual Help Desk on Zoom. Just
use Zoom Meeting ID 989 8732 9572 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, or 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Fridays, to connect with a financial aid ambassador who speaks English, Arabic or Spanish.
Voter Registration
Do you plan to vote in the November 3 election? If you haven't already received your mail-in ballot, you can verify your voter registration and/or track your ballot at
SDVote.com (San Diego County voters only). The last day to register to vote in California is October 19 for the November 3 election.
Spring 2021 Parking Permits
Since the spring 2021 semester will be largely online, students will not need to purchase a parking permit. If you come to campus during the spring semester, please be sure to park in an unmarked space as campus rules and local traffic laws will still be enforced. Again, students should receive their spring 2021 registration appointment email in early November.
I hope you find this information helpful. Good luck with your mid-term exams and projects!
Be well,
Dr. Marsha Gable
Vice President of Student Services
