Hello friends!

What an interesting few weeks it has been. As we navigate this uncharted territory, we wanted to share what we are up to.

First off, we are missing the kids so please have them connect with us via social media or  email! We try to go live on  Instagram  every few days, too, and we have heard what the kids are asking us for. We hope to do a Netlfix Party t o replace our usual movie and popcorn and a few fun challenges the kids have thrown our way via instagram. Please stay tuned for dates and times!  Need a tutorial on instagram? Click here. Need a tutorial on Tik Tok? Click here

Next up, a  social media challenge . We will post this on our instagram as well. We know everyone is having a tough time hanging out at home 24/7 and are missing their friends and extended family. WE GET IT! We definitely miss the kids and need their silliness and creativity in our lives!

This challenge is not just for the kids, though, it's for the adults, too! Since we all need to stay at home and away from our friends, boyfriends/girlfriends, school, sports,
work, and everything else...show us what you are doing at home to pass the time! Are you dancing? Drawing? Singing? Creating science projects? Making slime? Playing dodgeball against the wall alone? Whatever it is we want to see it!  Even better, get the whole family involved. Instagram, photos, videos, tiktok, we love it all!

What do you get in return? At least one lucky kid (or adult) will win a worthy prize for sharing what you are doing on instagram or tiktok and tagging @aspenyouthcenter.

To submit:
Post your tik tok, video, photo, or self-made meme to your instagram and tag @aspenyouthcenter. Or email to  michaela@aspenyouthcenter.org.  Please no cussing or inappropriate language! It will disqualify you from winning. We can't wait to see what the kids come up with!

Below I have compiled a list of online resources from educational to semi educational to just plain fun. Don't tell the kids but when they come to AYC and take part in Top Chef, Art Spot, Myth Busters or any of our other programs they are actually learning. Please email us with additional resources!

The obvious is of course to go outside, take a walk, hike or run. Jump on your bike and ride through your neighborhood or maybe skin up the mountain. As long as you are #socialdistancing make sure you get some fresh air!
Virtual National Parks field trip

MYTH BUSTERS - STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math)
Chemistry for teens
Three weeks worth of Maker Stations

Thank you all so much for your continued support of AYC. We are looking forward to a time when we can get back to gathering but for now, social distancing is key to making that happen sooner!

We also ask that if you are in the financial position to support Aspen Youth Center, please consider making a donation. Every gift at any level is truly appreciated and will help us adjust for lost funds during this time and ensure that we remain free to all 4th through 12th graders in the valley!

Please stay safe and healthy and we look forward to seeing you all, soon.

In gratitude,

Michaela Idhammar-Ketpura
Executive Director
