We’d like to see us all get through this crisis as a stronger community. Please let us at Omni know what’s going on with you as things evolve. Message us on Facebook at Omni Center Open Forum, or email at omni@omnicenter.org. If there’s anything we can do to help each other, we want to have each other’s’ backs!

COVID19 cannot damage our community. Not while you and I are here to help build the community WE WANT TO LIVE IN. Even though the world's on edge, waiting for the next shock, we're doing all we can to make it better. So we need each other, friends. Here are some of the people who are doing something about it. Come and connect.
E arth Day 50th Anniversary TODAY

Listed below are a few of the cool things that earth groups all over the planet have pulled together to celebrate the earth even though we're isolated from each other. This is a focus on the stuff LOCAL people are doing. The city is doing a cool trash pick up, but they got all 200 slots for it filled already, so we missed out on that. But there's more. Keep reading, friends of peace, justice and the earth!

Mask Makers Unite!

Especially recruiting for masks
Like many of y'all, powerhouse Leah Garrett has been making COVID masks and handing them out where needed. Until she started feeling like she didn't know what to do with the next one.

When she asked what to do with her masks she found out there were other mask makers not sure anybody really needed the fruits of their work. But never fear. There's a need. Leah is determined to help connect mask makers with those who need them.

If you're making COVID masks and would like to see that they have a good home, join Leah's growing team of dedicated mask makers connecting to agencies and people who need masks. Fill out the form at this link:

There are many people needing the masks. We've gotten a lot of calls from people needing them for themselves or people they serve. Every one of the Essential Workers in our community should have at least one.

If you need masks, there are places on the form to request masks. And if you'd be willing to pick up masks for mask makers who can't drop them off at Omni Center, you can include that. Please join the team.

Thank you to Leah and D'Andre Jones of the Black Cultural Action Committee of Compassion Fayetteville, for helping get this project off the ground.

Stellar performers over the years... A gift of magic from Democracy Now.

Photo: The legendary singer, poet and author Patti Smith performed two songs at Democracy Now's 20th anniversary celebration at Riverside Church in New York City in late 2016.  Smith opened with “Peaceable Kingdom,” a song she wrote for Rachel Corrie, the American activist killed by an Israeli bulldozer in Gaza in 2003. Michael Stipe of R.E.M. made a surprise appearance onstage, too, joining Smith to sing "People Have the Power."

Zero Garbage and Sustainability - Here's the Video
And of course, it's charming!

Before our lives all changed dramatically, I had a zero garbage presentation scheduled at the OMNI Center for next week. Now that we’ve cancelled that, as well as all other foreseeable zero garbage presentations, I have put together this virtual presentation -  a video about my sustainability projects , especially zero garbage. It’s a lot like the live version, only with fewer wise-cracks and no Q&A at the end. If you watch this video and you want some wise-cracks or a healthy dose of Q&A, please contact me! I’d love to chat about any of my sustainability projects. Note to viewers: If you happened to watch my 6-minute Pecha Kucha video in September, you can skip to 5:17 on this video because the first 5 minutes are very similar to the Pecha Kucha.

KPSQ is our community radio station - 97.3 on the dial and www.kpsq.org to anywhere on the planet. That's a potential market of 7 billion people.

All these brilliant events and activities that OMNI folks and friends do can have a FREE Public Service Announcements on KPSQ telling when, where and just how great they're gonna be.

To get your FREEE PSA go to KPSQ.ORG and click on YOUR PSA in the bottom yellow box on the left. Fill out the easy form and wonderful volunteers at the station will put you on the air. FOR FREE! Don't miss out on this terrific opportunity, all you fun-loving Arkansans.

If you'd like a chance to be one of those wonderful volunteers, call Joe at 479-236-1676. There's room for you on the team.
OMNI Needs your Pics

Hi all,
Your event photos are needed! We are assembling OMNI materials to be added to our archive
at the University of Arkansas. We have documentation of various kinds, but we don't have enough pictures from OMNI meetings, gatherings, and actions from 2013 through the present.
If you have photos from this period and they are hi-res digital, please send the images
along with the dates (specific or approximate) and the name of the event to karen@troutmusic.com

If you have printed photos, you can drop them by the OMNI house or bring them to the OMNI Members and Friends Gathering 2/10. If you want the pictures back, we can scan and get originals back to you.

Thanks so much for your help!

Warmly,
Karen Idlet, Volunteer Archivist
karen@troutmusic.com

Ernest Rando spent winter 2016 working in Fayetteville after a sevice tour at Standing Rock. He was at the occupation of ICE in Portland, and was just building shelters for storm victims someplace else. Sorry Earnest. I forget where.

Please support our friends! Every once in a while, if you have a bit of cash to donate to causes, keep him in mind.
Sharin' the love.
Job Openings!

Census Enumerators Still Needed
I’m working as a recruiting assistant for the US nationwide census. We’re looking to hire a few thousand enumerators (census takers) for next spring. The hours are flexible and the pay is $21/hour and $0.58/mile.

If you, your friends, or your family members are interested, please apply at  2020census.gov/jobs . Applicants must be U.S. citizens and at least 18 years old by April 1, 2020. Please apply as soon as possible because it takes time to process applications. Also early applicants can get on the top of the hiring list.

Fayetteville Boards, Committees & Commissions
Fayetteville boards, committees, and commissions consist of mostly volunteer residents who are devoted to giving their time and expertise on issues relating to each board, committee, or commission. Applicants must be a resident within the corporate limits of Fayetteville. If you are not a Fayetteville registered voter, you will need to provide proof of residency.
Vacancies are advertised and appointments are made quarterly. Resident appointments are made by the Nominating Committee of the City Council and receive final approval by the City Council.
