Greetings!

As the newly elected Board President of Challenge Air for Kids and Friends, I’m excited to serve this year with the expectation of having several fly days and virtual fly days this year as we hopefully come out of this pandemic.

I have been a pilot at several fly days since 2017 and have enjoyed each one tremendously. I love to see young kids light up on their first flight.

We look forward to seeing you at Challenge Air events this year.

Sincerely,

Kris Lonborg

Fort Lauderdale Fly Day Rescheduled

Due to the recent serge in Covid cases, Challenge Air and the local Fly Day committee have decided it will be in the best interest of our kids, families, pilots and volunteers to postpone the Ft. Lauderdale Fly Day scheduled for January 29th until April 23rd, 2022.

If you have already registered, you do not need to re-register. You will receive confirmation of your flight and time 2 weeks prior to the event. We are limiting the number of co-pilots to 75. If you haven't registered, please do.
Protect what matters most, now and always

With so much uncertainty at the moment, our work to build confidence and self-esteem in children with special needs through the gift of flight is of vital importance. And while you may be unsure of a way to support Challenge Air given this crisis, creating a planned gift is a powerful way to make a lasting impact and legacy with us that won’t cost you anything today.

We hope you will join the people who have included Challenge Air in their will, trust, or beneficiary designations. Writing a will is one of the most important steps to take, though understandably scary or uncomfortable given the current crisis. But now more than ever, it’s important to protect what matters most to you and have a plan in place.

Talk to your financial advisor to get started on protecting what matters most! Thank you for your support and your belief in the mission of Challenge Air for Kids & Friends.

Spotlight on Ember

"Today was one of the greatest days of my life. I got to witness my baby girl Ember take the controls on her first flight in a Cessna 172. However the story behind this is truly why.

After what started as a volunteer day with mom at work for an event called Challenge Air turned into an amazing story. Challenge Air finds pilots, planes and an FBO to donate their time to take children with disabilities up to fly. After talking with these amazing people I explained my fight in my daughters diagnosis of Articulatory Apraxia, a small tear on her brain responsible for speech, while still in my tummy, caused by a mild stroke.

This poor babe has been through years of children's hospital and speech therapy. I was shocked when the director said that Ember deserves to fly for her own fight in her disability. And so Ember Faith and myself and the best female pilot ever shared an amazing moment today. No matter how big or how small this organization recognizes them. I am a true proud mother today and am grateful for my work XJet and the people I encountered today."- Rachel M
