September is AOT Research and Innovation Symposium Month!

This year's virtual AOT Research and Innovation Symposium will be available starting in early September. Visit the 2021 Symposium website to review posters, fact sheets, and presentation recordings for all 26 projects featured this year.

The kickoff of the Symposium, Wednesday, September 8, coincides with the annual State Transportation Innovation Council (STIC) Stakeholder Meeting and will include keynote addresses from Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Associate Administration for Infrastructure Hari Kalla and FHWA Senior Pavement Asphalt Engineer Leslie McCarthy. Like last year, there will be four simultaneous breakout sessions featuring presentations of each Symposium project and Q&A session with the presenters. On Thursday, September 9, we will hold non-overlapping sessions of the recordings and Q&A.

High Value Research Project Winner: HIVE II
VTrans' Region 6's District Project Manager, Michelle Redmond, championed the 2019 External Research Project, Hydraulic Inspection Vehicle Explorer (HIVE) Culvert Upgrade. The HIVE Culvert Upgrade project was one of 16 national High Value Research (HVR) projects selected in 2021, and there has already been interest from several other state DOTs and a federal DOE project.
