at

(

) for the purpose of the following:
To determine if an Associate Pastor can become the Pastor of a given congregation.
Background:
- The 2007-2009 Book of Order G-14.0513 “Succession and Extraordinary Circumstances” states “The official relationship of an associate pastor to a church is not dependent upon that of a pastor, but an associate pastor is not eligible to be the next installed pastor in a church that they have served together, or to be called as pastor to serve as co-pastor of that church, except in churches that currently have a co-pastor model in place which has been in effect for at least three years and the congregation desires to continue such a model. As associate pastor shall be directed in his or her work by the pastor in consultation with the session.”
- The 2017-2019 Book of Order G-2.0504c “Exceptions” states “A presbytery may determine that its mission strategy permits a minister of the Word and Sacrament currently called as an Associate Pastor to be eligible to serve as the next installed pastor or co-pastor, or a minister of the Word and Sacrament employed in a temporary pastoral relationship to be eligible to serve as the next installed pastor, co-pastor, or associate pastor. Presbyteries that permit this eligibility shall establish such relationships only by a three-fourths vote of the members of presbytery present and voting.
Should the vote of the presbytery of those present and voting result in a positive vote that an associate pastor can become the pastor of a given congregation then the presbytery will be called to vote on the following:
That Rev Andrew Kasberg, currently serving as associate pastor of Dardenne Presbyterian Church become the Pastor of that congregation pending a vote of the presbytery and the congregation.
A quorum will be needed to process the above purposes. A quorum is, per our by-laws, 10% of the active enrolled Teaching Elders and Ruling Elders representing at least 10% of our congregations.
Joy Myers, Stated Clerk
