The BIG news for April? Tax Deadline? Start of baseball season? NO, of course not! It’s CONVERGENCE 2022!
Our annual one-day CPE conference is just over a month away, May 16, and registration is open and running! If you haven’t already registered, I would strongly invite you to do so now as seating is limited, and you’ll want to be there.
We are thrilled to be back – LIVE – at the Omni Frisco Hotel at The Star, the world headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys. This year’s conference will feature 5 tracks, your choice of 26 sessions, including a luncheon keynote address presented on the Cowboys practice field by Chris Cassidy, former Navy SEAL, astronaut, Bronze Star recipient and current President and CEO of The National Medal of Honor Museum. In addition to Mr. Cassidy, the event features many nationally-noted authorities on a wealth of important topics to the accounting and financial services industries.
Also, it is not too late to sign on as a Convergence sponsor. You or your firm’s support would be most appreciated, and you would receive an excellent package of benefits worth well in excess of the cost. If you would like to sign up, please contact Meg Campbell at 972-960-8311, or by email at mcampbell@cpadallas.org, and add your name to the list of our fine sponsor organizations.
Speaking of conference sponsors, we hope you’ll plan to join us on Thursday, April 28, at Blue Mesa Grill for our Thirsty Thursday spotlighting our Convergence sponsors. These are the wonderful companies and people who make it possible for us to bring you an event of this quality at such an affordable price. Thirsty Thursdays are a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and make some new ones too, so come out and have some fun with the best folks around, your fellow TXCPA Dallas members and our Convergence sponsors!
As a bonus to the Convergence event, we’re offering an Ethics course at a special conference rate of $50 to members. This class will be taught by Kathy Kapka, veteran Ethics instructor and former TXCPA Chairman. Maybe you’ll want to take advantage of the $199 room rate offered to us by the Omni, reserve a hotel room for Sunday night, enjoy the area’s entertainment scene and attend Convergence the next day. If this sounds like a plan, click here.
If you’d like to give some time this weekend to a worthy cause, we have a group of volunteers who will be working a shift at Feed My Starving Children. This organization receives donations, purchases and packages nutritious food boxes which are then shipped to partners all over the globe for distribution to the world’s most needy. If you’re interested in supporting this excellent mission with an hour and a half of your time, we hope you’ll join us on Saturday at Feed My Starving Children.
The 2022 Leadership Development Academy term begins in June. We are very big on our LDA. In its 13 years of existence, it has produced many exceptional young leaders, both for their respective firms and for the Chapter. If you would like to be a part of this prestigious group, or you know someone who would make a great candidate, please submit an application by Tuesday, May 31, for Early Bird pricing. The new Class of 2022 will be announced in the July newsletter.
So whether you’re coming down to the Busy Season wire or gearing up for the Rangers’ season opener tomorrow, we hope you’ll take some time now to register for the hottest ticket in town – Convergence 2022! See you there!

TXCPA Dallas
Scholarship Winner Spotlight
Each month, we will spotlight one of this year's TXCPA Dallas Scholarship winners. Join us now in getting to know University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) graduate accounting student Juliet Tosto and welcoming her to TXCPA Dallas.
If you ask Juliet Tosto what convinced her to be a CPA, she'll probably tell you it was a move from Illinois. After the recession of 2008, her mother was laid off her teaching job, along with many other Chicago educators. This unfortunate event led to the family's move to Texas. Juliet says it was enlightening "to see the difference between funded communities and communities in economic distress." In Texas she saw "Sold" signs on houses, multimillion dollar football stadiums being built, and happy people, unlike Illinois where the signs on houses read "Foreclosure", sports and arts program budgets were being cut, and her "neighbors wore stress upon their faces." Juliet knew then that she wanted to be one of the happy people and decided that she needed a relatively stable job in an industry that supported the financial health of businesses so that they, in turn, would have the ability to contribute back to the well-being of their employees and communities.
At UTD Juliet received the Comet, Phi Theta Kappa and Ray D. Botsford Scholarships. She was a Professional Program in Accounting student and was on the Dean's List. She is a member of Beta Alpha Psi and has served as the Director of Public Relations for Phi Theta Kappa. She has volunteered with the National Breast Cancer Foundation and as a volunteer tax preparer with the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program. Juliet received her Bachelors degree in Accounting cum laude in May of 2021 and will receive her Masters in May of this year. She served as a Spring 2021 tax intern for RSM US, LLP and will join their Dallas office as a full-time employee upon receipt of her Accounting Masters.
TXCPA Dallas welcomes and congratulates Juliet Tosto.
