Have you registered for Convergence 2022 yet? Registration has been open just over a month now, and enrollment has been brisk. Before you get too far into tax season and all the other activities involved in starting a new year, I would encourage you to take a moment now to sign up for our flagship CPE event. If you’ve attended in the past, you know what an outstanding value Convergence is, and if you’ve never been, there is no better time to treat yourself to the experience. Fifty dollars is the current member price for a day of matchless education, networking and eight hours of CPE credit. But like all good things, this pricing, too, will come to an end. On March 17 this low, Early Bird price will increase to $75, so take advantage now of the very best educational value available to the North Texas accounting and financial services industry. Be the Early Bird. Register Now!
As a Convergence bonus, we'll be offering a low-cost Ethics course on Sunday, May 15, also at the Omni Frisco Hotel. Check it out and register here.
Another question: have you joined the TXCPA Dallas Political Action Committee? It’s easy! All you have to do is make a donation, and you’re in! I know that plugging the PAC probably isn’t going to win me any popularity contests. Asking people for money rarely does. But of all the good causes to which we are asked to contribute, this one benefits the giver as well as the receiver. The PAC is the vehicle through which our CPA certificates are protected from legislation that might otherwise diminish their integrity and through which we’re granted a level of influence that may actually help to shape the State’s fiscal policies. This would not happen without the PAC, and the PAC will not happen without your support. So please become a member of the TXCPA Dallas Political Action Committee.
Our Annual Meeting of Members was held January 25 at The Clubs of Prestonwood and provided a great kick-off to the calendar year. Our keynote speaker Ollie Chandhok, Market Director and Publisher for the Dallas Business Journal, was interviewed by former TXCPA Dallas Chairman and Howard Managing Partner Tim Pike. Ollie entertained and enlightened us with his insights and predictions regarding the future of DFW’s economy and growth. A new slate of Chapter leadership was elected for the 2022-23 year, and six deserving members received recognition for their outstanding contributions to the organization. We congratulate all these remarkable individuals on their accomplishments. You can read about the newly elected officers and the award winners elsewhere in this newsletter.
If you’re interested in taking a break from the rigors of business this month and enjoying some social time and community outreach with your peers, there are some great outings planned. Join us on Saturday, February 12, at Minnie’s Food Pantry in Plano, as we assist this wonderful organization in feeding the area’s underprivileged. If you're of a more artistic bent or just like having fun, on Friday, February 25, we offer a channel for both at our Color A Smile event at the University of Texas at Dallas. On February 17, you’ll want to drop by Blue Mesa Grill after work for our February Thirsty Thursday Social Hour. These are all excellent ways to visit with old friends and make new ones, and we hope you’ll take advantage of the opportunity to relax and have a good time with your fellow members.
Have a great February, make your donation to the PAC and don’t forget to register for Convergence 2022.
