TXCPA Dallas Scholarship Winner Spotlight
Each month, we will spotlight one of this year's TXCPA Dallas Scholarship winners. Join us this month in getting to know University of North Texas (UNT) graduate accounting student Matthew Love and welcoming him to TXCPA Dallas.
Matt Love found his calling working in collections. One of his responsibilities at his current job as a staff accountant is to work on collections for the company. In doing so, he communicates with many Texas businesses that are struggling financially, not because they don't work hard enough or have a bad business model, but because they are overextended or are unorganized in their front office to where they have cash flow issues from their own customers. Matt has seen the critical need for an accounting business that is tailored to provide services for small and new businesses across the state. He has made it his path and mission to obtain his CPA license and open a business that will provide financial advice, tax filing services, financial statement preparation, as well as budgeting for these companies, and help them to meet their goals while fulfilling his own dream of giving back to his state and community.
Matt, an Eagle Scout since 2004, has received numerous scholarships, among them being the ISACA North Texas Chapter, Jane Sewell Accounting, and DFW CMFA Scholarships. He holds the designation of Certified Fraud Examiner and is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, TXCPA and AICPA. He is currently the staff accountant at 4-STAR Hose & Supply, where he was named "Employee of the Year" in 2019. He will graduate in May 2022 with his M.S. in Accounting.
TXCPA Dallas welcomes and congratulates Matthew Love.

Midyear Board of Directors and Members Meeting
The Midyear Board of Directors and Members Meeting is Jan. 21-22 at The Westin Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas, Irving. Attendees will hear updates on important TXCPA strategic plan initiatives, the 2022-23 Leadership Slate will be presented, AICPA Chairman Bill Pirolli will present on Friday, January 21 and members will have the opportunity to participate in roundtable discussions with their peers.
It is preferred that Board members attend the Midyear Board Meeting in person, but to accommodate those who are not able, as well as those who are not comfortable attending in person, a virtual option is now available on the meeting registration page. TXCPA is encouraging chapters to invite your chapter board members and chapter committee volunteers to participate in the meeting using either the in-person or virtual option.
Additionally, in an effort to keep our attendees safe and provide peace of mind, we will now require proof of a negative COVID-19 test (administered within 72 hours of attendance) or proof of full vaccination to attend the Midyear Board Meeting in person. Details about the third-party platform that will be used for verification will be sent to all registrants for the in-person meeting at least two weeks prior to the event.
