Summer in Dallas… That means the mercury is rising, the days are getting shorter, and we’re all rooting for the Rangers. At TXCPA Dallas, the Summer of 2022 means great events currently on offer and intensive planning for the year ahead.
Our Young Professionals Group (YPG) is more active than ever this summer. On July 12, the group will co-host an educational happy hour with Success North Dallas Young Executives. Mike Muhney, CRM Industry Creator, will lead a presentation on reputation management, and the event will include an excellent opportunity for networking with other young professionals from the Dallas area. The annual YPG CPE Leadership Breakfast is scheduled for August 10 in the TXCPA Dallas Training Facility and will feature a 2-hour CPE presentation, The EDGE: How to Stand Out by Showing You’re All In, given by Adam Tarnow. We invite all our 40-and-Under members to register for these outstanding events.
If you’d like to learn about forms K-2 and K-3, join us for an online Lunch & Learn Series event on July 15. Josh Whitworth of Howard LLP will lead an overview of these new tax forms, and you will receive one hour of CPE credit. On July 27 the Chapter’s Membership Committee presents another installment in its Brown Bag Lunch Series. Todd Luong of RE/MAX DFW will talk about the current area real estate market, and a free market report will be prepared by RE/MAX for all homeowners who attend.
Join us on Thursday, July 21 for our monthly networking event at Blue Mesa Grill on Montfort Drive. If you’re new to TXCPA Dallas, have never been to Thirsty Thursday before, or haven’t been in a while, this is the perfect time to join your fellow members for what is one of our most popular events.
Summer also means the kick-off of our Leadership Development Academy. This year’s class is made up of seven aspiring leaders in the accounting profession. The Academy program begins this month and concludes with graduation in January 2023.
Shout out to those who contributed to the CPA-PAC this year! Your donations helped TXCPA Dallas attain the highest year-over-year fundraising increase of the five largest TXCPA chapters and receive recognition at the recent TXCPA Annual Meeting. We encourage all our members to contribute to this resource that protects our certificates and our interests in Austin. Make a CPA-PAC contribution and help us defend our title next year!
We are very excited about the agenda of events and activities coming up, and we hope you’ll make time in your busy summer to join us for all of them.

Congratulations to Our 2022 Rising Stars
TXCPA’s annual Rising Stars Program recognizes CPA members 40 years old and under who have shown innovative leadership qualities within the accounting profession and their communities. The 2022 Rising Stars were honored at an awards luncheon on July 1 during our Annual Meeting of Members and will be featured in a cover story for the November/December issue of Today’s CPA. Congratulations to these 20 outstanding members! See the list of honorees.
Supporting Your Profession is Easy
The primary runoff is over and the November ballots are set. Do you know where the candidates stand on CPA issues? The PAC knows, because we make it our business to vet every legislative candidate. From fighting sales tax on services to protecting professional licensure, TXCPA members count on the CPA-PAC to support candidates who understand the importance of CPAs and the Texans they serve.
