The winter days are winding down and at TXCPA Dallas, we are “March-ing” toward an exciting Spring!
Convergence 2022, scheduled for May 16 at the Omni Frisco Hotel at The Star, is “marching” toward us double-time! If you haven’t registered yet, we encourage you to do that right away as space will be limited and Early Bird pricing runs out on March 17. The full Member price of $75 is a bargain for an event of this caliber; the Early Bird price of $50 for a full day of quality education is a steal you don’t want to miss out on. This year’s conference offers 26 sessions, including a luncheon keynote address on the Cowboys’ practice field presented Chris Cassidy, former Navy SEAL, astronaut, Bronze Star recipient and current CEO of The National Medal of Honor Museum. Leading edge information. Exciting venue. Lunch on the Cowboys’ practice field. Price: $50. Register now.
And speaking of Convergence, don’t miss our April 28th Thirsty Thursday Networking Hour where we will recognize our Convergence 2022 sponsors. This event starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Blue Mesa Grill on Montfort Drive. We always have a large turnout for this special gathering, so it’s an excellent chance to visit with old friends, meet plenty of new ones and give a big thank-you to the good people who make our signature event possible year after year. There is no charge to attend, but we do ask that you let us know you’ll be there, which you can do by clicking here.
Also, if you’ll be needing an ethics course by the end of May, we’re offering one on Sunday, May 15, at the Omni Frisco Hotel. This class will be taught by Kathy Kapka, veteran Ethics instructor, and is being offered at a price discounted exclusively for Convergence 2022: $50 for Members. Get in on this deal by clicking here.
In case you’re wondering if there’s anything else happening at the Chapter other than Convergence, we have a live Accounting Ethics course and a virtual Brown Bag Lunch event on this month’s schedule. Allison McLeod leads our Ethics class on March 23, and Terry Sullivan, founder of BuzzPro, will teach LinkedIn Branding & Social Selling on March 30. Ben Simiskey, TXCPA’s Strategic Planning Committee Chair, will visit TXCPA Dallas on March 7 to discuss and answer your questions regarding the state Society’s future plans, and we hope you’ll join us on March 17, at Blue Mesa Grill for our monthly Thirsty Thursday social hour.
Remember to sign up for Convergence 2022 before March 17. We look forward to sharing the day with you.

TXCPA Dallas
Scholarship Winner Spotlight
Each month, we will spotlight one of this year's TXCPA Dallas Scholarship winners. Join us now in getting to know University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) graduate accounting student Bailey Stone and welcoming her to TXCPA Dallas.
Doing good, helping others and contributing to the high standard of excellence associated with the accounting profession are some of the main motivators behind Bailey Stone’s passion for her chosen career. That, and her grandpa. As she puts it, “I am looking forward to becoming a CPA not just for myself, but for my grandpa as well…Even in his 80s, he kept his CPA license up to date until he passed away a few years ago. He was an accounting professor and a mentor to many, and as I finish my degree, I imagine all the different ways he would encourage me to use the knowledge that I am acquiring to serve others.” His inspiration has served his granddaughter well.
At UTD Bailey received the PCAOB, UTD Transfer and Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships. She has acted as both a Transfer and PPA (Professional Program in Accounting) mentor, as well as a campus ambassador for Ernst & Young. She was a member of the Undergraduate Accounting Club and Beta Alpha Psi. She has donated her time and talent to the Feed My Starving Children organization and was a Youth Group Leader at Grace Revolution Church. She also served as a volunteer tax preparer with the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program. Bailey was employed as an intern at Ernst & Young in the spring of 2021, and will join the firm as a full-time member of the audit staff upon receipt of her Masters degree in May.
TXCPA Dallas welcomes and congratulates Bailey Stone.

TXCPA Group Billing Program
The Texas Society of CPAs is committed to helping the organizations that employ our members leverage those membership investments to support organizational goals for success. We know each organization has unique needs. TXCPA’s Group Billing program is tailored to meet those needs.
If you would like to participate in the Group Billing program or ask any questions, please contact Kristie Estrada.
CPA-PAC: Your Home-Court Advantage
Between work and personal commitments, TXCPA members’ plates are more than full. The good news is the CPA-PAC has your back. From researching candidates to analyzing legislation, TXCPA is working every day to protect your interests in Austin and beyond. The CPA-PAC is the bedrock of that protection, providing critical support to officeholders who value what CPAs bring to the table. Your CPA-PAC contribution is the fastest, easiest way to help keep us strong. Click here to donate securely online.
TXCPA Honors Steve Tillinger, CPA
TXCPA and the accounting profession lost a dear friend earlier this year. Steve Tillinger, CPA-Corpus Christi, passed away on January 4. Many of you know Steve well from his travels across the country to educate CPAs.
Steve’s passion for the profession was evident in his more than 30 years of educational programs, prepared with incredible detail and delivered with great enthusiasm.
Steve’s family has generously granted TXCPA the rights to provide members with access to his materials so you may have the resources you need to help you best serve your clients and companies.
All proceeds will go directly to the newly established Steve Tillinger Memorial Scholarship from the Accounting Education Foundation of TXCPA.
We hope you’ll join TXCPA in honoring Steve’s memory with great appreciation for his many years of service as we build a fund to support the future of the profession Steve loved so much.
Tax Season Interview Contact List
During tax season, TXCPA builds a volunteer list of CPAs willing to do newspaper/on-camera media interviews. If you know someone who has the time and would be a great candidate to represent the Society, please email Kari Owen. She will contact those recommended and obtain their commitment to participate, which often requires an immediate response to interview requests – especially during a time of high media interest such as tax season.
And remember: TXCPA has a database of talking points to assist with media interviews and can also help with members’ presentation needs (PowerPoint documents, brochures and handouts, etc.).
