Chairman's Message

May, the month of finales at TXCPA Dallas. A fiscal year ends; a long-awaited and prepared-for event finally takes place; and a Chairman’s term comes to an end.
The year-long production that is the Convergence program is racing toward its culmination on May 16th at the Omni Frisco Hotel at The Star. As a front-row participant in this year’s event, I have witnessed the intense effort that goes into creating it year after year, and I am amazed at the investment of all those involved in making this conference happen. Many thanks to each of you.
If you haven’t already registered for Convergence 2022, I urge you to do that now. There is still time left, and you will not want to miss out on this excellent opportunity to learn and network with your fellow TXCPA Dallas members. We’ve lined up over 30 highly knowledgeable and skillful speakers who will be presenting on the most pertinent accounting and financial topics of the day. Chris Cassidy, former Navy SEAL, astronaut, Bronze Star honoree and currently President and CEO of the National Medal of Honor Museum, will be sharing his inspirational insights in a luncheon keynote presentation, “Mission: Possible – It’s in YOU!”. I hope you’ll join us for what’s sure to be a memorable occasion.
And while you’re there, please visit all the many sponsors who make our signature event possible. These organizations provide the tangible and intangible support required to put on an event of this quality – some for many years – and we are extremely grateful to each one of them for that. I encourage everyone to review the list of sponsors in this edition and on our website and be sure to consider them when you’re in the market for the services they provide.
Don’t forget, if you’re in need of Ethics credits, we are offering a course at a special Convergence 2022 rate on Sunday, May 15, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., also at the Omni Frisco Hotel. Kathy Kapka, former TXCPA Chairman and veteran Ethics instructor, will lead this State-approved, four-hour course. Don’t miss out on this bargain!
Have you ever volunteered for a Tango Tab Feed the City event? If so, you know what a fun time they are, and if not, well, you’re missing out. Luckily, we have a way to fix that! Join us on Saturday, June 11, at Bowl and Barrel in the Shops of Park Lane where we’ll laugh, visit and make sandwiches for the underprivileged.
As I said earlier, May marks the end of a Board Chairman’s term of office. It has been a distinct honor and pleasure to serve as the leader of your Board of Directors for the past 12 months, and I leave with many great memories of this experience. On May 31, I will hand the Chairman’s gavel to Kenny Broom, a very competent and energetic leader. I have the utmost confidence that he and Max Duplant, the incoming Chair-elect, will carry on the legacy of excellence for which this association is known.
I would like to thank those who have been of such tremendous assistance and inspiration to me this year. To the Board of Directors with whom I’ve been privileged to serve, your wisdom and integrity have been a true gift, and I am grateful and humbled by the experience of working with you. Thank you to the committees and committee Chairs without whom this enterprise would be, simply put, lifeless. To Meg Campbell and the TXCPA Dallas staff, you are the unsung heroes of the organization, and I for one would like to say a resounding thank you for keeping the wheels turning and making it all happen.
And to you, my fellow members, I value your support and encouragement over this past year, and I deeply appreciate your contributions toward making this association the respected and important institution that it has been and no doubt will continue to be.
