Athens County Tourism Development Grant

DEADLINE EXTENSION TO MARCH 31st, 2022

We have decided to extend the deadline for applications to March 31st. Please be sure to share this information with anyone interested in applying for the grant program. We hope to increase interest and collect more applications!

The Visit Athens County office is bringing back its Tourism Development Grant program. We want to encourage local agencies, event planners, and community organizations that feel they qualify for financial support from Visit Athens County to apply. We hope that this newly envisioned grant program will help streamline and set a foundation for our financial support systems for community projects, events, tourism assets, and tourism related campaigns. Please note that this grant program will be the primary source moving forward for requesting funds from the Visit Athens County office.

To be considered for a grant, non-profit attractions and organizations must complete an application for funding, which outlines the applicant's needs for marketing, promotional and advertising assistance. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis, with primary consideration given to new and expanded events, and initiatives that attract visitors from more than 100 miles and/or attract overnight visitors to Athens County.

The Grant Application can be found HERE.

*Application information can also be found on our website by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking Tourism Development Grant.

Please note this is an online application with an option to attach necessary documents. If you desire to complete a paper version please contact the Visit Athens County office.

All applications must be submitted or completed online by 5:00pm on Friday March 18th, 2022. Paper copies or scanned copies can be submitted via email along with supporting documents to [email protected] or dropped off at 667 E. State. St. Athens, OH 45701.

A full budget must be attached along with supporting materials to outline the event, project, or program. Grants will be awarded up to $1000.00 and awards will be based on committee review.
