Anchoring is Complex Enough. Maretron Makes it Easier!

Introducing N2KView® Anchoring

Maretron’s  N2KView® Anchoring  is the world’s first and only comprehensive solution to monitor and guide the process of setting and retrieving your anchor. Using N2KView Vessel Monitoring software and data from the NMEA 2000® bus, N2KView uses already available Depth, GPS, and Compass data from the NMEA 2000 bus. Before the anchor is dropped, N2KView is calculating in real-time:
  • Suggested Anchor Rode – based on the current depth this is the minimum amount of rode you will need to deploy to ensure that your chosen Scope will be met at high tide.

  • Drag Radius & Swing Radius – at that rode and depth.

  • Possible Grounding–when the tide drops will you still have enough water under your boat?
When the anchor is dropped, N2KView records the position of the bow, the depth and time, and will transfer the Suggested Anchor Rode to the Actual Rode, where it can be adjusted to the physical rode that you deployed. If you have an NMEA 2000 Rode Counter, the Actual Rode will be updated automatically.
When backing down to test that the anchor is set, a graphical display shows the boat and Set Circle – the maximum distance your bow can go from the anchor without dragging. Captains have always had difficulty detecting a false set; now they know that any pull on the chain before they reach the Set Circle is false, and if they go over the circle, they are dragging. If you drag and are able to set later, press a button at full rode and N2KView will re-calculate the anchor position.
When retrieving, N2KView guides you back to the anchor. No more hanging over the prow and signaling back directions to follow the chain.
