8:15 a.m. - afternoon
Connecticut Antique Machinery Assn.
(CAMA)
Museum & 40th Annual Fall Festival
The last weekend in September,
CAMA's exhibits are up and running!
Which means --
live-steam locomotive and industrial engines,
a working saw mill, and more.
If you love mechanical stuff, you gotta see this place!
Never heard of a "Hit and Miss" engine? Now you have. So come see what one really is -- how it looks and sounds and why they were used.
We all refer to paving rollers as steam rollers, don't we? But steam-powered rollers were gone long before we were all born. Steam tractors too. You've probably seen neither a real steam roller nor a steam tractor, but you will!
~~~~~
Not only tons of antique machinery on display indoors and outdoors,
this event draws flea market vendors galore!
The CAMA Museum is huge
but guess what?
There are three other museums on the CAMA campus,
all worthwhile seeing.
Connecticut Museum of Mining and Mineral Science
Eric Sloane Art Museum
Kent Iron Furnace
Google any one of them for more details.
WHAT CAMA IS ALL ABOUT
The Connecticut Antique Machinery Association is a museum that preserves historic machinery. The museum has a number of exhibits on industrial technology such as internal combustion engines, steam engines, agriculture, and logging. Included within the museum grounds is a 3-foot (0.91 m) narrow gauge railroad, with an operating steam locomotive. Originated from a local group of hobbyists, the museum opened to the public in 1985 on a 14-acre site in Kent, Connecticut.
