Summer is in full swing here at the Sanctuary. Reports show that despite higher travel costs, most Americans will still be vacationing this summer and our Lanai Lions hope you'll come to see them!
Before the pandemic we welcomed more than 16,000 guests per year, but since reopening we only see about half that amount. This is painful for several reasons. First, visitor donations are a big reason we are able to keep our Sanctuary running and fewer visitors means we have to cut costs where we can. But more than that, we genuinely love seeing our guests' faces light up when they first step into the Sanctuary and see all of our cats. This joy resonates throughout our campus and we hope to enjoy more of it soon. 😻
We are so grateful for those to visit and if you are coming to Hawaii, getting to us is easier than you might think. From Maui, catch the ferry and take a scenic ride on a shuttle or private taxi to the Sanctuary. From Oahu, take a quick commuter flight and we are less than a mile from the airport. No reservations are needed and we do not charge for admission, but if you had a nice time, a donation would be wonderful.
If you aren’t traveling to Hawaii but would like to “rent a piece of purr-adise,” we have the most affordable way to do that. Learn more here!
Take care,
