Celebrating what we do
National Travel and Tourism Week, May 5-11, 2019, is a time to celebrate the ways that travel contributes to our economy, businesses, and personal well-being.

Did you know that the tourism industry is one of Sonoma County's largest private employers (leisure and hospitality make up 25 percent of the county's total employment) and that government taxes on tourism bring in more than $43.7 million per year?

This money is used for things like parks, economic development, cultural and historical festivals and events, affordable housing, and other uses. So the work we all do to welcome and assist visitors to Sonoma County makes a significant impact.

May 5-11 is a time to reflect on the importance of travel and tourism, even as we gear up for Memorial Day Weekend and the start of our peak summer season.

And, of course, our calendar is already full, with  m ore than 330 events listed in the next two months. A few highlights are below, and you can view the complete list at  sonomacounty.com/sonoma-events . We also list all the wonderful things to do in Sonoma County at  sonomacounty.com/things-to-do .

Cheers,
