Project Update
October 13, 2021
Park Improvement Project
In 2016, the City purchased the one-acre property on the corner of Pala Vista Drive and Civic Center Drive, north of Highway 78, to create more park space for residents and to improve a key entry point into the city. The new park will include two children's playgrounds, a tree climbing structure, natural turf space, benches and eating areas, water fountains, decorative security fencing, and public art.
In addition to creating outdoor green space for Vista residents, the park construction will include widening northbound Civic Center Drive, from Pala Vista Drive to Postal Way, to reduce traffic congestion.
Naming of the Park
In September 2021, the City asked for the community's input on the naming of its newest park. On October 12, the City Council adopted "Pala Vista" for the official park name, based on the community's input.
Construction Project Update
Construction is progressing and the new park is expected to open in summer, 2022.
- New park name selected: Pala Vista Park.
- New sidewalk installation almost completed.
- Perimeter park irrigation system completed.
- Prep work for undergrounding utility lines around the park property underway.
