Vital Living News

June 2026

Vital Living supports an intergenerational community that values and respects everyone, increases understanding and engagement, and focuses on health and well-being for all generations.

The Start of (Meteorological) Summer

We've been waiting for the warm weather to sweep across the Midwest and stay a while. It seems the warmth has finally decided to stick around! The summer solstice is almost here but before then, we welcome the start to our meteorological summer, as meteorologists & climatologists often observe as the beginning of June. They base this calendar off of the annual temperature cycles in the Northern Hemisphere.

Thank you for tuning into our monthly newsletter! Currently, we do not have any new East Side updates for you all. In case you missed any past updates regarding the merger between East Side Neighborhood Services and Access Ability Inc. (AAI), please see the front page of our website found here: https://www.esns.org/

This month we wanted to highlight a local event happening at the NE Library on June 13th from 1:30-2:30pm! The event is titled:

Minnesota to Maine: A Solo Bike Trip and What I Discovered.

Former MN State Representative Tracy Beckman retired early to become a full time caregiver for his wife who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. In the middle of his caregiving journey, his family took over his duties, giving him the time for a 60 day, 1600 mile solo bike trip to Maine that gave him a new perspective on life. Tracy has been instrumental in leading several Alzheimer’s caregivers support groups. If you would like more information regarding this event, you can visit the webpage here.

Sincerely,

The Vital Living Team

Caregiver Support Group No Longer Available

Our weekly Caregiver Support Group, hosted by the Vital Living Program, is now on pause until further notice. As we continue to dedicate our efforts to serving the caregivers in our community, we are evaluating the most effective ways to reach those needing support. During this time of change, we will continue to serve caregivers through our NE Day Spot program, 1:1 support, and providing resources to those who reach out. We appreciate your flexibility and patience while we take this time to be intentional and direct our energy to other caregiver-centered programs.

If you'd like to connect with the Vital Living team regarding this, please contact 612-787-4086 or VitalLiving@esns.org.
