Suicide Awareness Summit
VoS Leading the Way on Important Initiative

Did  you know:
  • The construction industry is in the top nine occupations at greatest risk for suicide
  • More than 41,000 suicides occur annually, exceeding the number of deaths due to car accidents
  • Suicide is the second leading cause of death among men aged 25 - 54
  • The mortality rate for white males, aged 45 - 54, is increasing, especially among those without a college education - a statistic contributed to by this growing suicide trend
  • The economic impact of suicide exceeds $44 billion annually
As you can see, this is an important topic for everyone in our industry to be aware of. In an effort to raise awareness and start the conversation, VoS is hosting a half-day summit on Thursday, April 7.  There is no charge to attend, but registration is required. Plus, we encourage you to invite your CEOs, HR and Safety professionals to attend with you.

For more information and to register, click here.  If you have questions regarding the program, please e-mail Marj Weber or Michelle Walker.

To be able to offer this at no charge, and in an effort to reach as many interested participants as possible, we are seeking sponsors to underwrite the cost of the event.  If you are interested in sponsoring, please e-mail Jim Bracy or David James.

Community Service Opportunities
Two exciting ways to help!

In our ongoing support of UMom New Day Centers, we have an exciting and easy way to help - right from your computer!  UMom has a wish list on Amazon  that you can order from, and it will ship directly to them!  Currently, they have a need for baby care products, including diapers.  If you prefer to shop at a store - please use this list as a guide for things they need. Then bring them to the February lunch, and we'll be happy to deliver them to the shelter for you!  Questions? Ask Diana Bujnovsky or Michelle Walker.

If you're more of a "Hands On" helper - then mark April 30th on your calendar and get your tool belt ready!  VoS' Community Service and Young Professionals committees are joining forces to work on a Habitat for Humanity Project!  Watch full details and sign up info will be coming soon. If you have questions in the meantime, feel free to e-mail Michelle Walker or Cliff Spickler.
February Lunch
Doubles as our annual meeting!

As if the excitement of a Group Captive Insurance Program presentation isn't enough to get you to this month's lunch...your attendance will double its value by ensuring we have a quorum for our annual meeting and election.  Be there to vote in our new Board of Directors and Officers, and to thank those who are completing their terms.

Register here for the Thursday, February 18th Lunch, Annual Meeting and Presentation!
