Suicide Prevention Summit
VoS Leading the Way on Important Initiative

Did  you know:
  • The construction industry is in the top nine occupations at greatest risk for suicide
  • More than 41,000 suicides occur annually, exceeding the number of deaths due to car accidents
  • Suicide is the second leading cause of death among men aged 25 - 54
  • The mortality rate for white males, aged 45 - 54, is increasing, especially among those without a college education - a statistic contributed to by this growing suicide trend
  • The economic impact of suicide exceeds $44 billion annually
As you can see, this is an important topic for everyone in our industry to be aware of. In an effort to raise awareness and start the conversation, VoS is hosting a half-day summit on Thursday, April 7.  There is no charge to attend, but registration is required. Please help us inform your company's most influential leaders by inviting your CEOs, HR and Safety professionals to attend with you.  Non-members are welcome to attend, so share this event with other companies who you feel could benefit from participating.

The program will include national and local subject experts, along with local mental health resources, testimonies from those affected by suicide, and a panel discussion. For more information and to register, click here or e-mail your name, title, company and contact information to Glenda.

If you have questions or would like further information, don't hesitate to e-mail any of the following committee members: Marj WeberMichelle Walker,   Jim Bracy  or David James.

Help Out UMom...
...from the comfort of your computer!

In our ongoing support of UMom New Day Centers, we have an exciting and easy way to help - right from your computer!  UMom has a wish list on Amazon  that you can order from, and it will ship directly to them!  Currently, they have a need for baby care products (including diapers) as well as small items for people moving into their own apartments (such as kitchen items, sheets, etc.).

If you prefer to shop at a store - please use this list as a guide for things they need. If you bring them to the March lunch, we'll deliver them to the shelter for you!  Questions? Ask Diana Bujnovsky or Michelle Walker.
