Message from the Minister

Dear Spiritual Community,
I hope everyone had a splendid Christmas! Donna and I were fortunate to have two of our three children visit us for the holidays. We appreciate all the cards and gifts you gave us! It means a lot to us.
We have now come to the crossroads between 2018 and 2019. What will be our experience in this New Year? What will we leave behind us from our previous years' collection of happenings, and what good will we carry forward? Those are questions every person on this planet must come to terms with. Some of us will simply enter the New Year with the cruise control on, not taking pause to examine what worked and what didn't. As adult learners and truth seekers, we will most likely turn off the "cruise" and review the quality of our lives, and then decide what to keep and what to release.
We will each have an opportunity here at the center to consciously participate in re-creating our lives anew. Beginning on Wednesday, January 9, 7:00 p.m., you are invited to attend our prosperity program for the year entitled, Prospering Together in 2019. This six-week, multi-media program will allow each of us to examine our prosperity consciousness. I will be leading the discussion. The premise is that as we prosper individually the center prospers as well. We can't have one without the other. The program is derived from various Unity and New Thought sources, and is organized around the work of Reverend Richard Rogers, a Unity colleague, who authored a book entitled, Principles of Prosperity Journal (out of print). A sign-up sheet is located in the foyer, or call/e-mail the office and we'll sign you up!
Additionally, all of my Sunday talks throughout the first six weeks of 2019 will contain abundance enhancing principles. And, we will be blessed with an expert on abundance! Sunday, January 27, Ester Nicholson will be coming to Unity Christ Center to present a workshop entitled, Keys to Abundant Living (see notice in this newsletter).   She comes highly recommended, and was once a part of the famous Agape Center in Los Angeles. She currently resides in Nashville. She is the author of Soul Recovery - 12 Keys to Healing Dependence. She is also a gifted musician, having performed with Rod Stewart and Bette Midler. Ester will be our Sunday speaker and soloist that Sunday.
It is my hope that you will be able to participate in these abundance enhancing activities!
Reverend Alden Studebaker is available to support you through spiritual counseling, prayer, hospital and other visitation, weddings, funerals/memorials, christenings, and special blessings. His private church e-mail address is revalden@aol.com.   His office hours are variable depending on the week, but he is consistently in his office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. To make an appointment, call the church office at 715-836-0010. In case of an urgent need, call his mobile no. 715-450-1868.

Presentations on Natural Burial scheduled
There is a movement in this country toward natural or green burials. (For more information Google "green burials" or a similar entry.) Currently there are two natural cemeteries near Madison and several cemeteries in the Milwaukee area that have set aside sections for natural burial. The option of natural burial apparently is not available in northern Wisconsin. For the last year some of us in Unity have been talking about it, and a survey was conducted by CVTC.
Providing such an option would be a service to the people of the region and significant income to those involved in its establishment.
Two informational meetings, one at 1:30 and another at 7:00 pm, on January 10 in Classroom B have been scheduled. Lloyd Shepherd will review what natural burial is and discuss the possibilities for establishing a natural cemetery in Elk Mound.
We hope to determine if there is grass roots support in Unity for such a project and identify people who would like to help develop a plan for Unity involvement.
