North Shore Music Theatre is proud to present WORKING: A Musical on Saturday, May 5 th The evening will begin with a cocktail reception and silent auction at 7 pm in the theatre lobby, followed by the performance at 8 pm. Tickets for the event are: $40, $50, and $75 (includes VIP reception) and can be purchased by contacting the Theatre Box Office by phone at 978-232-7200, online at  www.nsmt.org  , or in person at 62 Dunham Road in Beverly, MA.

The featured characters of WORKING are individuals you know! Their stories and situations resonate with ordinary familiarity. But this musical is anything but ordinary. By presenting a different look at the seemingly humdrum lives of working people, this compelling musical reveals a variety of hopes, aspirations, joys, and dreams. To some, Monday to Friday life is a drudge, but to others their daily routine represents a source of great pride. We are all united by the need to work, and to find meaning in the work that we do.

WORKING paints a vivid portrait of common (and often under-appreciated) people we encounter each day: the schoolteacher, the waitress, the truck driver, the grocery clerk and the mason, just to name a few. The strength of the show is in the core truths that transcend specific professions; the key is how people's relationships to their work ultimately reveal key aspects of their humanity, regardless of the trappings of the job itself.

From the performers, to the choreographers, musicians, back-stage tech, and directors, this production represents more than 100 dedicated members of VOH. Personally impacted by cancer or dedicated to finding a cure, these volunteers collectively donate thousands of hours to rehearsal and planning in the months leading to this single night. Don't miss this highly enjoyable production and help contribute to the new possibilities born by significant advances being achieved through cancer research.

A Special Thanks

On Monday, in the rain and cold, our very own Roger Desjardins ran his first Boston Marathon on behalf of Voices of Hope.

You may recall that, last year, Roger asked for pledges for his running, and logged a thousand miles, raising over $10,000 on our behalf.  For the Boston Marathon he again reached out, and succeeded in raising over $11,000 for VOH!!!

We just want to give a special shout-out and say "Thanks!" to Roger for all his efforts on our behalf.  Rog, you're the best.
