Voices of Hope
August, 2014
Welcome to the monthly newsletter for Voices of Hope!  We appreciate your interest in our organization and our mission; to help fund the ongoing research to find a cure for cancer. Look here every month for our most recent news, our upcoming events, and ways that you can help.  As long as their is research to be done, our voices of hope will sing out for the cure!
VOH is excited to announce that we are now sending out a monthly newsletter!

This quick update will let you know what's going on in the VOH world.  Our organization is growing and so is our reputation, which means that we constantly have new events and performances on our calendar.  We also want to share our fundraising success with you, as well as the most exciting news both from VOH itself and the Termeer center, where our contributions are put to excellent use.

Last but not least, look for our spotlight in every issue.  We'll be sharing a personal story or reflection from one of the many voices that make our work possible.  We are ordinary people on an extraordinary mission.  Thanks for being one of us!
September 6, 2014

Voices of Hope will be back at the North Shore Music Theater on September 6th for the second installment of Unfinished.  All the music chosen for the concert has a special connection with those who are taken from us too soon, leaving their life's work unfinished.

We'll be singing some of VOH's classic numbers from years past, as well as a few sizzling new pieces.  Last year's wildly popular concert received rave reviews, and raised (GET A DOLLAR AMOUNT TO PUT HERE) for the Temeer center!  This year we hope to top that, so buy your tickets now!
Recent Events
VOH just held our annual meeting for members.  We are pleased to report that we now have over two hundred active members, many of whom will be performing in Unfinished 2.

We sang to kick off the Lowell General Hospital's Teamwalk for CancerCare.
After inviting us to record a cover of "Firework" for their promotional video, Lowell General had us sing at the opening ceremonies for their Teamwalk for Cancercare.  It was a beautiful day, and an overwhelming turnout for such a great cause.

The Lowell Spinners invited us to sing the National Anthem at their game.
Over 30 VOH members sang the National Anthem and then hit the stands to mingle with the crowd and raise over $350 with our 50/50 raffle.  Thanks, Spinners!

We spent an amazing evening with the wonderful people from the Termeer Center for Targeted Therapies at the MGH Cancer Center. They are the rock stars of medicine and science. So honored to be associated with these incredible people.

Two VOH fundraisers have been filling the Backstage Bistro at NSMT.
Love Letters ran for three stellar performances, and April Foley and Sandra Huerta put on a two woman show for one magical night only.  Thanks go out to everyone involved for their wonderful performances, and their gracious generosity.

Fox 25 filmed a segment on VOH for their Real People, Real Stories feature.  Stay tuned to find out when the segment will air.

Charlie Scopoletti

Charlie Scopoletti is proof that musicians have influence that can lead to real impact. Through his music he has helped raise over $100,000 for charities and has been recognized for his selfless commitment to helping others, with a Certificate of Appreciation by Westchester NY County Executive and a Proclamation naming March 7th "Charlie Scopoletti Day" by the Mayor of Port Chester NY.

A two-time cancer survivor, his music draws from the unique perspective of someone who's faced and overcome adversity. His music speaks stories of the human condition, creating a combination of inspiring songwriting and thought-provoking lyrics. Charlie strives each day to help inspire, spread hope and make positive change to enhance people's lives.

Scopoletti was only ten when he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, a debilitating disease of the lymphatic system. Looking back on the months spent in treatment, Scopoletti remembers how the painful process of recovery started his life in a new direction. A foundation was set for him to grow upon filled with the showing of love, act of giving and the power of music.

Scopoletti has released one album and two EP's over the years, his latest entitled "Today is the Day" was recorded with Oscar winning, Grammy and Emmy nominated Producer/Engineer/Mixer Robert L. Smith. One of the songs called "This Wish" was written for Make-A-Wish´┐Ż Connecticut, it is a tribute to the foundation and all the Wish Kids around the world.

In 2014, for the send year, Scopoletti put together a charity concert at The Legendary Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY where greats such as Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Rolling Stones and many other legends have performed. Scopoletti Co-headlined with Duncan Sheik, known for his hit Barley Breathing and Broadway sensation "Spring Awakening".

As Charlie continues to grow as an artist and as a person, one thing is for certain, he is touching people's hearts and here to make a difference one song and one show at a time.
