AN UPDATE FROM OUR DIRECTOR:
Nine months ago, thousands of children were sent home from school with no timeline to return. Their parents faced furloughs and layoffs, the sudden responsibility of homeschooling and above all, the urgency to keep themselves and their children healthy and protected from Covid-19.
Thanks to you, those families also had a family support line, online education, stress management workshops and more. On behalf of those families, thank you for standing by them.
I recently spoke with a mother that felt like her world stopped back in March. “I was terrified,” she said. “I was worried about losing my job, being a single mom, homeschooling my child, and not getting sick. EPIC made me feel like I wasn’t alone, even during the loneliest time of my life.”
Every day, your support makes stories like hers possible.
There’s five days left in 2020- our 40th anniversary year. While it went nothing like we planned, it does mirror the resiliency that our founder, Bob Wilson, showed at EPIC’s beginning. Our goal for this year was of course to celebrate our history, but even more so, to celebrate the hundreds of thousands of families we have served over the past 40 years. It was also to adapt alongside families and continue to support them in whatever ways they needed, because now more than ever, families need our help.
That’s why this appeal is so important. If we can continue to raise funds for families by December 31st, it means they have access to car seats, literacy tools, parenting support, a help line and more – but we need you to make it happen.
Would you be willing to make a special year-end donation of $50, $100 or whatever you can afford to help us meet our goal and show struggling families that we are here for them?
We simply cannot do it without you. Your support will make a real, lasting impact in the lives of those who are still in need.
