Concert on the Common is BACK!

The popular spring and summer concert series Concert on the Common will return to the Greenville Toyota Amphitheater at the Greenville Town Common on Thursday April 26. The 2025 series will feature some of the most popular bands from previous years including On the Border – The Ultimate Eagles Tribute, Greggie and the Jets (Elton John Tribute) and Landslide (Fleetwood Mac tribute).

Here's the lineup for this year’s Concert on the Common:

June 5: Landslide - A Tribute To Fleetwood Mac

MARC AND LAURA WIN NC PERSONALITIES OF THE YEAR FOR FIFTH TIME

For the fifth consecutive year Marc and Laura, the morning team on 107.9 WNCT, won the Radio Personalities of the Year for Medium Markets in the state of North Carolina.

Marc Miller and Laura Smith were awarded the honor at the annual NC Association of Broadcasters Annual Award Ceremony in November at the Angus Barn Pavillion in Raleigh.

The light-hearted morning show has been an Eastern Carolina favorite for listeners since 2017. The show airs every morning Monday through Friday on 107.9 WNCT! Congratulations to Marc and Laura for entering the Five Timers Club!

LUKE VAIL INDUCTED INTO THE BEACH MUSIC HALL OF FAME

Another Hall of Fame Induction took place for our staff in 2024. Luke Vail, who has been hosting Sunday On The Beach on 107.9 WNCT since 1994 was inducted into the Beach Music Hall of Fame.

Luke joins Craig Woolard who hosts The Craig Woolard Show on 107.9 WNCT who is also in the Hall of Fame.

This is the third induction for 107.9 WNCT as the station itself was inducted in 2020.

107.9 WNCT is the legendary HOME for beach music in the Carolinas with programs each weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

IBX MEDIA PRESIDENT HENRY HINTON NAMED TO NATIONAL BOARD

Henry Hinton, President of Inner Banks Media, was appointed to the National Association of Broadcaster (NAB) Board of Directors in January. Hinton also serves at the Vice President for Radio for the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters (NCAB). He formerly served as President of the state association. The NAB is the national advocacy group for the advancement of Radio and Television nationwide and is a key player in shaping legislation in Congress which affects the industry. Hinton’s appointment fills an open position for a four-year term at NAB.

ECU PIRATES SPORTS ARE HEARD EXCLUSIVELY ON IBX MEDIA STATIONS

Two of the IBX Media Radio Stations continue exclusive radio coverage this year. 94.3 The Game, the Flagship Station of the Pirates, carries every ECU Baseball, Basketball and Football games for East Carolina University. 107.9 WNCT carries every Football and Basketball Game.

The exciting ECU Football Season climaxed with an amazing win by the Pirates over the NC State Wolfpack in the Military Bowl in Annapolis, Maryland. The 26-21 victory by ECU sets up a rematch with the same two teams for the opener of the 2025 season in Raleigh on August 28 in Carter-Finley Stadium.

IBX Media is the university’s partner for sports broadcasts through an agreement with Playfly Sports.

IBX Media Listeners Again Come Through...

Three separate radiothons in 2024 netted more than $200,000 in 2024. Once again, our stations hosted radiothons for the James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital through the Children’s Miracle Network, Operation Santa Claus for area families at Christmastime and Pitt-Greenville Crimestoppers.

The March Radiothon for the Children’s Hospital was broadcast on all our station in March of 2024. The upcoming 2025 radiothon will be held on March 27 & 28.

In December of ’24, our stations co-operated with the Greenville Fire and Rescue Department for the Greenville leg of Operation Santa Claus on December 5. The following week we worked with the Morehead City Salvation Army and held another Operation Santa Radiothon at Mike Toler Chrysler Dodge Jeep.

Operation Santa Claus Fundraising concluded with our annual Christmas Concert featuring Craig Woolard and the Embers on December 17 at Reimage Church in Winterville.

Operation Santa Claus raises money each year for underprivileged children at Christmas. All the funds are distributed through the local branches of Salvation Army.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Whenever there is a natural disaster in our listening area the IBX media radio stations lead the way in fundraising for our neighbors. Something unusual happened when hurricane Helene ripped through western North Carolina the last week of September.

When a listener reached out to ask if the stations could help locate a tractor to pull a truck to Asheville, we jumped to the front line again to help, even though the disaster was on the other side of North Carolina.

When IBX media stations got involved asking the community to bring items for Helene victims to ignite church the result was sixteen tractor-trailer loads of water, clothing and other items that were sent to the mountains. Proving once again that listeners of our stations will always answer the call when someone needs help.
