From the Director's Chair
By Executive Director Tom Welch
As the year progresses, we have some new leadership positions filled. I know you will continue to pray with me for our 31st National President, Roy Benavides, and the vision he has unfolds for all of us as we move forward with this team of leaders, this band of brothers. I know all that attended the national convention in Baltimore left refreshed, revived, and better equipped to make a difference in their environments back home.
At the National Office we continue to have a brisk pace of outbound New Member Packets, orders coming in and going out, as well as updates from chapters and the various ministry cells within Brothers Andrew. As requested by our leadership, I am making inroads and plans to be out in the field at the diocesan level March, April and May. We will utilize both our routine communication links as well as diocesan newsletters to promote our efforts within the individual dioceses. June will find me in Louisville as General Convention for the Episcopal Church meets late that month. We will be welcoming several guests in the office during that time.
In the intentional quiet moments we make for Lent, part of that time and space is spent on thanksgiving, part on personal reflection where “growing edges” are and how to improve them. I don’t know about you, but the readings and songs during the Lenten season aren’t among my favorites. Yet there is beauty in them. There’s a beauty in “quiet days” during this season. My prayer for each of us is that we take some time for quiet, not only during Lent but throughout the year. Whatever we imagine a perfect Lent to be, then smile as the Father reminds us, “no one has ever imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him….” In these Lenten days ahead may your imagination run to Him, resting in His providence. When we do, may that peace you find there be shown to others in how you live and move and have your being.

SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE SUPPER
A HUGE SUCCESS
The Brotherhood of St. Andrew at Good Shepherd in Friendswood, TX cooked pancakes, bacon and sausage for Shrove Tuesday for the Parish on Tuesday night, 2/13/2024. We served over 80 people with delicious pancakes, bacon, sausage, and fruit plus drinks. This was a slight increase from last year. The Brotherhood received serval comments on how “very” good the pancakes were. All enjoyed the fellowship.
Fr Justin organized a Pancake Decorating event which was a great success. There were multiple entries, and it was difficult to choose the winners. The judging committee of Cindy Patton and Susan Toon reviewed all the entries and determined the winner.
And many thanks to our newest Brotherhood members, Dennis Patton and Herbert McKenzie for helping with our event. They also had new Brotherhood aprons for our event. And many thanks to Brothers Ronnie Vinson, John Morawski, Bruce Pinkham, John Bethscheider, Alan McArthur, Chris Mays and Peter Gilmour. Plus many thanks to Nancy Bradley and Janice Vinson for decorating the tables. And the costs were more than covered by the Love Offering donations.

PRAYER FENCE OFFERS BLESSINGS
Brotherhood of St. Andrew chapter at Christ Episcopal Church in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, has again this year started the Prayer Fence to run through Lent. Prayer changes lives. All are encouraged to stop by, grab a couple ribbons, say a prayer and tie a ribbon on the fence. Last year they filled the fence with prayer ribbons. (Pictured below is Conrad Jones.)

Recognizing Our
Sustaining Members
Sustaining Members refers to Brothers who have committed to offering a monthly (or quarterly) donation to the Brotherhood over and above their regular Sr. Membership dues or a Life Membership.
Many of us do make additional donations throughout the year (Ex: special appeals, purchase of the Sweepstakes tickets, etc.), but this a pledged commitment of recurring donations in a regular, consistent recurring donation throughout the year. It represents a commitment to financially support our ministry continuously throughout the year.
Thanks be to these Brothers for their commitment to financially supporting our ministry
throughout the year.
Br. James Miller, Br. John Streeter, Br. David Adams,
Br. Evans Clements, Rev. Br. Ellis Clifton, Br. Nick Cox, Br. Cecil Buxo, Br. Walt Joyce, Br. Leland Metheney,
Br. Louis Surles, Br. John Blossom, Br. Eric Fisher,
Rev. Br. John Thompson-Quartey, Br. Arthur Simpson, Br. Oliver Evans, Br. Peter Gilmour, Br. Ken Holloway, Br. Roy Benavides, Br. Conrad Jones, Br. Ed Milbrada, Br. Ray Talbird, Br. George Shumard, Br. Jeff Butcher, Br. Tom Simpson, Br. Dick Hooper, Br. Eric Haralson, Br. Tom Welch, Rev. Br. Ed Bartle, Br. David Penley,
Br. John Fitzgerald, Br. Billy Harrison.
Can you commit to a $5 or $10/month (or more) donation to this ministry and community of men that you belong to? Many brothers also make an annual contribution above dues. It is important, if not critical, to the ongoing vitality of our ministry to men and youth. If you'd like to discuss more, email us by clicking here:
