NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE AND REMEMBERANCE
Wednesday, September 11
Here's how your chapter can participate in the National Day of Service and Remembrance on Wednesday, September 11:
• Organize a group of people who will accomplish a meaningful community service project by working together as a congregation for the purpose of assisting an individual, family in need, or local non-profit service organization. The project should be identified as a worthwhile mission opportunity.
• Obtain your clergy permission, support and involvement.
• Select an event that will attract as many individuals who may wish to volunteer to complete the project on the Day. Register your event.
• Encourage groups to enlist men, women and young people, friends and family members to get the maximum benefit to complete the service project in one day.
• Promote the Day in your parish, your community, and your diocese to allow participation to be as inclusive as possible during the event.
• The Day is to begin and end in prayer.
• Having fellowship and refreshments during the day is suggested.
• Take pictures of members and participants in action, and publish an article in your parish's newsletter, diocesan newsletter, or possibly to send to the Service Center for possible inclusion in the St. Andrew's Cross publication and the Brotherhood's national website.

From the Director's Chair
By Tom Welch
On the Road Truckin'
This summer has had me on the road on your behalf more than any time since joining your ministry team in 2017. A significant amount of our Annual Budget is for member outreach and service. The summer began with nearly two weeks in California quickly followed by General Convention of the Episcopal Church when a new Presiding Bishop was elected. This month consisted of training and visits in Alabama, Georgia and Florida. The latest trip of 2,650 miles driven over two weeks with a dozen appointments ended last night at 8 p.m. We are most grateful for Brothers Eric Fisher of California, George Booth and Wes Larsen (in Jacksonville and Boynton Beach respectively) who hosted me in their homes or provided hotel housing during the summer visitations. It made for significant savings. We are also grateful for financial support throughout the year from our donors and members.
What came of these efforts? Renewal of chapter memberships in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, a new Bishop Advisor for Scouting/Youth, Eagle Scout Rt. Rev. Frank Logue of Savannah, Georgia, rector visits in Darien and Brunswick in that diocese to re-charter and one to possibly start in the weeks ahead. Time with brothers at the 97th chapter to ever charter, St. John’s Cathedral in Jacksonville, Trinity Church in St. Augustine, Resurrection in Longwood and Holy Innocents in Valrico. Six churches in the Diocese of Southeast Florida all gathered at St. Joseph’s in Boynton Beach this past Saturday. In addition to our host chapter at St. Joseph, St. Benedict’s, Transfiguration, St. Philip’s, St. Paul’s and another St. Joseph’s in Plantation attended that annual meeting.
Here is just a couple of feedback examples from members:
“Real face time like this is important.”
– Br. Dana Chester, Resurrection Chapter #5453, Longwood, FL
“We appreciate your taking the time to be with us and sharing both your personal experiences and insight to the website, the “SERVICE CENTER" (formerly known as the “National Office”) and activities of the other Brothers. For the first time, I feel a part of a larger group and a mission bigger than our local chapter. Thanks again for you service to the Brotherhood and our Savior.’
Faithfully, Br. Carl Carter,
St. Joseph Chapter #5173, Boynton Beach, FL
One of the highlights of my time in the field was recognizing the impact of Cursillo in the life of the church. Active ministries like Cursillo, ours, Episcopal Church Women, Union of Black Episcopalians, Daughters of the King, etc. is a proven sign of healthy churches regardless of their size. I personally served on 25 weekend Cursillo staffs. Call me a slow learner. What those weekends provide is laity empowerment. And it is a safe assumption to say Cursillo led me to Brotherhood membership. Praise the Lord!

Every Membership Counts
Every Dollar Matters
By Darron Kendrick,
CPA & National Finance Committee Member
Recently I had the opportunity to be with Executive Director Tom Welch on a prospective chapter visit on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. While we were together, we talked about what a difference faithful, consistent dues mean to our ministry. While we have 200 new members this year, we have hundreds and hundreds of members who’ve skipped dues for a couple of years in a row. If we look at lapsed members in just three states and had 75%+ (Houghteling Chapter qualification) of them pay their 2024 member dues this month that would yield $35,000 to aid in our modest $250,000 budget. (Remember dues are late after January 1, 2024.) In order to meet our mutual ministry and mission, faithful and consistent dues are essential.
You can check on your membership status by calling the National Office (502-450-5640) or email Office Manager Libby Craven (admin@brothersandrew.net).
To renew your dues, simply click this link from our website: https://brothersandrew.net/donate/#membership-renewal
Thanks for doing your part. Remember, Christ is counting on you ... and so are the rest of us. Here is a special invitation from our President Roy Benavides: http://brothersandrew.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Your-A-Good-Man-Appeal-Letter-August-2024.pdf

SCRIPTURAL STATIONS OF THE CROSS
VP Dick Hooper and the Membership Committee of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew have an addition devotion for the Stations of the Cross. This is service is in addition to our Devotional Handbook. It is timely and well done. We urge chapters to include this service with your routine devotions during your time together as Brothers Andrew. The Power Point and Service is available on the Prayer page of the BStA website or you can download the guide here.

WE WANT YOU TO BE ON OUR TEAM!
Sustaining Members refers to those Brothers who make a routine, recurring monthly (or quarterly) donation over and above their annual ministry dues or a Life Membership. As a non-profit, 501c3 organization, the Brotherhood of St. Andrew depends on your support to bring Christ to men and youth throughout God’s kingdom.
Many Brothers do make additional donations throughout the year (Ex: special appeals, purchase of the Sweepstakes tickets, etc.), but this is a pledged commitment of recurring donations in a regular, consistent recurring donation throughout the year. It represents a commitment to financially support our ministry continuously throughout the year.
To join this important team, commit to a $5 or $10 (or more!) monthly donation by either mailing a monthly check with the memo "recurring donation" to the Brotherhood of St. Andrew National Office at P.O. 1382, Louisville, KY 40201 or make a recurring donation online with a credit or debit card or PayPal at
https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=ZTS6U2C8AK75N
Make sure you check the "Make this a monthly donation" box after you enter the monthly amount! (see graphic below) Your monthly contribution is important, if not critical, to the ongoing vitality of our ministry to men and youth.

Thanks be to these Brothers for their current commitment to financially support our ministry
throughout the year.
