Volunteer Orientation and Training

Want to be more involved with the LGBT community on campus? Come to our volunteer training and orientation to learn more about opportunities for leadership and involvement!  


Peer Education Program

Are you interested in gaining leadership experience and social justice training? As a Peer Educator, you are trained to lead/facilitate workshops and have the chance to educate campus communities about social justice issues pertaining to the LGBTQIA+ community. Muir's LGBTQIA+ Pride Week

A celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride at Muir College. Opening Event with crafts, LGBT 101 for students interested in becoming active allies, a Drag Education program, a Picnic social with a passive educational program about the importance of the Transgender community, and a queer dance to round it all out!

Love is Light aims to create a welcoming and comforting social environment for LGBT students of all spiritual backgrounds. SoCal T*Camp brings together transgender, genderqueer and gender-questioning college students for an intercampus retreat January 4-7, 2019. Both undergraduates and graduates who are currently enrolled are welcome to apply.

Coming Out Group

The Coming Out group is a place to meet and gain support while discussing your sexual and/or gender Identities in a confidential setting.  This group is for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, straight, or questioning folks who are coming out, considering coming out or may already be out.  Topics are determined by group participants and can include stress, fear, anxiety, loneliness, family/cultural issues, excitement and celebration with regard to coming out. The group is open to new members the first 3 meetings of each quarter and then closes to maintain safe space.

Vagina Monologues & TheirStories

VagMo & TS is a collection of monologues that speaks to the experiences of all folks in UCSD. 
However, none if this is possible without all of you. Cast/crew auditions are your time to shine and show us what you bring to the table. Cast auditions are completely cold and require no previous acting experience! Crew auditions are simply conversations to understand your qualifications for the position.

VOICES Leadership Program

The VOICES Leadership Program is a year-long leadership development opportunity for undergraduate women grounded in feminist leadership principles. The VOICES Leadership Program is designed to build a community of women leaders committed to social change. The program consists of attendance at a day-long leadership retreat followed by participation in a series of Women's Center programs throughout the year. With the understanding that gender is a social construct and is not always experienced on a binary, we want to welcome all students who believe that this program would be of benefit to them.

Pink Out Day is an opportunity for supporters to come together and participate in a day of action in advance of the November General Election. In San Diego we will be knocking on doors and talking to voters about pro-Planned Parenthood candidates in north county.

Blindspot Collective and Diversionary Theatre Workshops
Oct. 13-14 | 4:00 - 9:00 PM | Diversionary Theatre in University Heights

Blindspot Collective and Diversionary Theatre, the third oldest LGBT theatre in the country located in San Diego, is seeking participants from the trans community for a new project that will be based on the stories and experiences of trans youth and young adults. The resulting show will be produced in December and will tour to local high schools to address issues of harassment and transphobia.
 
Participants will take part in a 2-day interactive workshops and will engage in activities that support community-building, story exchange, and conversation. 

No performance experience is necessary.

The Women's Center STEMtorship Network is a group mentorship program that aims to build a network of support for undergraduate women in STEM. Monthly meetings throughout the academic year will include a combination of guest speakers, professional development and community building activities. Join us and get to know other women in STEM while learning strategies that support your professional and personal goals!
