APRIL 26, 2026

Our annual Spring Celebration was a wonderful evening of connection, community, and purpose at Tamarack Country Club. Surrounded by friends and supporters, we came together to honor incredible leaders, celebrate the impact of JFS programs, and share in the power community. We are so grateful to everyone who made the night so meaningful, and we can’t wait to share more highlights and photos with you next week!

In honor of National Volunteer Appreciation Day, we were proud to host our annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast, celebrating the dedicated individuals who give their time, compassion, and talents to support our community throughout the year.

From direct services and special programs to events and behind‑the‑scenes support, our volunteers play a vital role in helping us reach and uplift those we serve.

Our strength as an organization comes not only from our programs, but from the people who show up with care, energy, and heart. We are honored to celebrate you, not just on National Volunteer Appreciation Day, but every day!

Rachel Kornfeld was honored to serve as one of four panelists at a recent Connecticut Voices for Children event held at the Greenwich YWCA. Joining Rachel on the panel were Rob Moore of Greenwich United Way, Sonya Keshwani of Neighbor to Neighbor, and Simone Quartey of the Greenwich YWCA.

The program, A Roadmap to Fully Funded Communities, featured a thoughtful, community-led conversation focused on fiscal controls in Connecticut and their impact on local communities. The discussion highlighted the importance of collaboration and advocacy in building equitable, well resourced communities across the state.

JFS Norwich met with the team at Otis Library to share resources and strengthen collaboration. Because the library is next door to our Norwich office, it's natural to align our services. Currently, the library hosts a citizenship class in collaboration with JFS.

Public libraries are trusted sites for people in need. We are grateful to the dedicated team at Otis Library and look forward to deepening our connection to those who find refuge, engagement, and support there.

Tessa Addeo has been a dedicated member of the JFS of Greenwich volunteer community since she was 12 years old—and her impact continues to grow. Tessa has served as an ESL Buddy to Ukrainian children, volunteered as a summer program counselor, and most recently, provided weekly math tutoring to an Afghan high school student. Thanks to her patience and commitment, that student has flourished academically and is now earning straight A's in math.

Inspired by her family’s long-standing connection to JFS, Tessa founded the Refugee Community Support Club at Greenwich High School. Through this initiative, she has expanded our volunteer network and created meaningful opportunities for fellow students to support refugee families in our community.

Tessa’s compassion, leadership, and dedication truly embody the spirit of Volunteer Appreciation Month. We are grateful for her continued commitment to lifting up others.
