WPS Volunteer Awards
2019 WPS Volunteer Award nominations are open!
The Volunteer Center of Brown County is pleased to once again host the community's largest event recognizing the impact that volunteers have on our community! Made possible by event sponsor Wisconsin Public Service, along with the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation and our eight generous award sponsors – Aon, Bellin Health, Constellation, The George F. Kress Foundation, Georgia Pacific, Green Bay Packers Give Back, Morgan Stanley and United Healthcare – this event celebrates volunteers and highlights the work they do to assist nonprofits in our area to fulfill their missions.

Why take the time to submit a nomination?
It’s a powerful way to honor the impact that a person or group is having in the community! Each individual nominee and two representatives of group nominations will be our guests at the Awards Breakfast, which will take place on  Thursday, April 18, 2019 , at the KI Convention Center. All nominees will be recognized at the event.

Recipients of the awards and runners-up will receive cash prizes of  $1,000  and  $500  respectively that they can donate to the nonprofit organization of their choice. The youth recipient and runner-up will receive the award amounts as scholarships.
Submitting a nomination creates greater awareness within our community of the organization where the volunteer gives their time and energy. The deadline for nominations is  March 1, 2019 .

The nominee may also be selected by the Volunteer Center as the “Volunteer of the Week” (which runs weekly in the  Press-Gazette ) or submitted for regional and state awards following the event.

Volunteer of the Week
Gary Wisneski is our Volunteer of the Week!

Gary Wisneski has volunteered with Evergreen Productions Community Theater for over a decade and generally dedicates several hours each week to the organization. Evergreen Productions Community Theater brings the performing arts to the citizens of Green Bay and Brown County through the production of theatrical performances by adults and youth. Evergreen also provides theater education programs for youth in the area.

For many years, Gary has served as a set builder for Evergreen's theatrical productions and has occasionally served as a set designer. Gary has also served as the volunteer facilities manager handling all of the issues that arise with the storage and rehearsal space. He has also organized Evergreen's construction area and has even created shelving. Most recently, Gary joined their fundraising committee and also became a member of the board of directors. Gary is always willing to step up and lend a hand. He is willing to work with younger and less experienced volunteers and share his knowledge with them.

Gary's work with Evergreen has allowed them to create some amazing sets for their theatrical productions. His work with facilities has allowed other volunteers to come in and do their jobs more efficiently, thereby allowing Evergreen to produce a better product to bring to the community. Gary's work as a volunteer has eased a lot of stress and has saved the organization a lot of money. Because Gary is able to repair many things that might break at their facility, Evergreen is able to save money by not hiring someone to complete repairs.

Thank you, Gary, for your willingness to step up and lend a hand for Evergreen Productions Community Theater!
