volunteeroftheweekVolunteer of the Week
Cheryl Williams is our volunteer of the week! Cheryl began volunteering with the Brown County UW-Extension Community Gardens Program in early 2013.  It is impossible to categorize Cheryl's primary responsibilities, as she is willing to perform any task, on any day of the week and at any time of the day.

Over the course of three years, Cheryl has lead volunteer groups, canvased neighborhoods in search of more garden space, facilitated project organization, helped with fund raising as well as running the actual Community Gardens Program for a number of months.  Without her leadership, funding difficulties would have forced the program to close, leaving many community members without a garden space.

Cheryl embodies the spirit of volunteerism in her selfless promotion of the Community Gardens Program.  She has internalized the program's mission to "empower all county residents to grow healthy food."  In recognition of these efforts, she received the Mayor's 2014 Environmental Sustainability Award.

The Community Gardens Program would like to thank and recognize Cheryl for her outstanding dedication to their program and all of her help to keep it in the community.
