Volunteer of the Week
|
 |
|
Mike Blecha is our volunteer of the week!
Mike's primary involvement is with the
Green Bay Area Public School District, as a school volunteer. He is in his 15th year of reading with students and assisting them with schoolwork at Fort Howard and McAuliffe Elementary Schools. Mike is paired with students who might need that extra adult touch, both academically and in a mentorship sense. He reads to the students and assists them with their schoolwork, and is a consistent role model in their students' lives.
Mike plays an important role at Fort Howard Elementary School with their fourth and fifth grade students. He volunteers to read to their students two times a week for two hours and makes each student feel so important and special to have 20-30 minutes of one on one time with an adult. Not only does he model building social relationships, he models keeping his commitment to the students and his love for reading.
Mike also plays an important role at McAuliffe Elementary School, where he has put a lot of time and effort into helping children be successful. He is a great role model for the students and adults who observe his commitment to the children in this community.
Mike makes a difference not only academically with the students, but also personally as well. His consistent kindness and reliability are important qualities that make a lasting impact on the students he serves. Mike is also on the Green Bay Area Public School Board, and attends school events and PTO meetings. He is willing to use his time and talent however it is most needed.
Thank you Mike for your dedication and commitment to students in our community!

Einstein Project
The Einstein Project is a nonprofit organization partnering with schools and communities to provide leadership and support for science education in Wisconsin. They offer 40 inquiry-based science units, developed by the Smithsonian Institution and National Academy of Sciences, to schools giving children the opportunity to learn by doing. The units allow schools to provide an inquiry, hands-on science curriculum for students. The six to twelve week units contain enough materials for an entire class and are leased to schools for a modest fee.
The Einstein Project provides affordable and engaging science materials and teacher training to advance science knowledge, skill and an enthusiasm for learning.
