volunteeroftheweek Volunteer of the Week
Cyndee Sweetland is our volunteer of the week as well as our WPS Volunteer Award Arts & Culture Recipient!

Cyndee is a founding member (and board member) of Film Green Bay and has been the Green Bay Festival Director for each of the festivals seven years of existence. Although Cyndee's formal role is Festival Director, she is the heart and soul of the Green Bay Film Festival. Directing the festival means having vision, screening films, helping secure sponsorships, overseeing staff and volunteers, working with the event venue staff and a long list of other responsibilities that Cyndee takes in stride.

With Cyndee's commitment and determination, the Film Festival has not only survived, but it has grown each year. As Festival Director, Cyndee is not only the guiding light for all the volunteers, but the major contributor of volunteer hours. She spends over 2,000 hours each year volunteering her time for the Festival and has made this commitment each year of the Festival's existence. Through her dedication and make it happen attitude she has impacted the community in many ways. The community now has an affordable opportunity to experience the arts and has gained exposure to independent films  where they have experienced diverse insights into what is happening socially and culturally worldwide. Future filmmakers have been provided with learning opportunities through workshops, competition and contact with filmmakers, and independent filmmakers have been able to showcase their films and talents.

When you meet a dedicated volunteer, you see more than their exterior, you see their soul, their passion and their driving force. Cyndee meets this description! She volunteers because she believes the arts are important and sees how creativity can open minds. She has a passion for what she does. As a leader, Cyndee has a positive, supportive, get it done spirit. She effectively uses other volunteers talents to get the job done and she makes everyone feel their job is important. She continues to learn and is always open to suggestions and improvements.

Cyndee has created opportunities for the community to experience the arts, develop creative and artistic skills and bring residents together to enjoy culturally rich and diverse experiences.

Thank you Cyndee for founding and directing Green Bay Film Festival!
