Volunteers of the Week

The Learning With Legos Program at the YMCA is a six-week program that utilizes the experience of play and Legos to teach lessons in developing predictions, problem solving, testing hypotheses, and learning about the components and engineering of simple machines. The program pairs adult volunteer mentors with 2nd-4th grade participants to guide the process and play through Lego creations, and incredible friendships just happen to be built along the way!
Learning with Legos would not be possible without this dedicated group of volunteers. Since the inception of the program, there have been twenty volunteers who have worked with over sixty elementary-age children. The volunteers come from varied backgrounds; many of the volunteers are retired and looking for a way to fill their time.
Seeing the smiling faces of the youth in the Learning with Legos program demonstrates firsthand the impact the volunteers have. Learning with Legos is about more than teaching math and science concepts. It's about building relationships between generations, making the future of Green Bay stronger!

The Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity ReStore has a solution for your holiday lights that you no longer need. They will accept your donations of working or non-working holiday lights to recycle for Habitat homes. The holiday lights recycling program at the ReStore runs year round, but there is a push for donations during the holiday season.
It is the second year that ReStore is asking local churches, businesses and organizations to host a collection box at their site to collect holiday lights. If you're interested in participating, contact Chiara Boss, Resource Coordinator, at
920-347-5731
or
volunteer@restoregb.org
. Spreading the word about this campaign is critical and is such an easy way to give back this holiday season.
Lights are collected at the ReStore at 2965 Ramada Way, #B, in Green Bay, WI during regular store hours: Monday-Friday: 10 am-6 pm & Saturday: 9 am-5 pm. If you have any questions about the campaign,
