Lucinda Roberts is the producer of
"Doctors in Recital", which she conceived 10 years ago. Starting out as a small talent show, it has grown into a two hour variety show with over 30 performers, 50 choir members, and at least 20 additional volunteers who all perform in the Weidner Center! All of the performers are physician musicians, healthcare choir members from different healthcare systems, and students in the recipient school music program and East High School. Together they receive a meaningful opportunity to work together to 'Make a Difference by Making Music.' The community receives a wonderful family friendly event at the beautiful Weidner Theatre.
When the membership of the Brown County Medical Society Alliance physician spouse organization folded, it was Lucinda who provided the challenge and communication to the physician performers to form a new committee, under the Brown County Medical Society physician organization. Doctors in Recital, or DIR, helps meet community needs by donating back to Brown County. Non-Profit community recipients receive 80% of the proceeds and school music organizations receive 20% of the proceeds from the event. Over the past 10 years, the Brown County Community has received between $250-$300K!
Since starting this program, Lucinda has become the Fine Arts Coordinator at the East High Institute for the Fine Arts, produced Rock the Lakes for the Billy Graham Organization and has grown the annual Doctors in Recital event to be a part of the Weidner Center's annual program offerings. As the wife of a physician, Lucinda realizes that the medical profession is a high stress field. This event helps some of our most gifted residents, in high stress positions, who are responsible night and day to care for the health of this community, to have a meaningful outlet and time to connect across healthcare systems.
Thanks to Lucinda, our physicians, healthcare workers, and youth in music programs, have an event that not only brings them all together for a meaningful event but gives back to the community as well.
Thank you Lucinda for your dedication and hard work with
Doctors in Recital!
