Volunteer of the Week
Carol Foytik is our Volunteer of the Week!

The YWCA Women's Career Closet provides free, work-appropriate clothing to low-income women in our community who need clothes for interviewing or existing employment. There are approximately 2,000 visits to the Women's Career Closet annually. The Women's Career Closet is located within the Women's Empowerment Center at the YWCA and is the only free closet of its kind in the area . The Women's Empowerment Center seeks to empower women of all economic and ethnic backgrounds by helping them find sustainable employment.

Carol Foytik volunteers two full days a week in the Women's Empowerment Center processing donations of clothing and accessories for the Career Closet and the new Madison Street Boutique. Carol sorts, steams, and organizes the clothing, processes the jewelry, and even does mending and laundering as needed. Carol also serves as a role model for the team of 35 volunteers as well as the participants in the work experience program. Carol served approximately 600 hours in 2017 and has served in the Women's Empowerment Center for almost five years.

Carol's volunteer work ensures that guests to the Women's Career Closet are treated to a positive shopping experience where the clothing is organized, well stocked, and pressed, helping the ladies feel special and cared for. Carol's influence on the participants in their work experience program is significant, as so often these women have a need for positive role models in their lives. Carol helps create an environment of acceptance and inclusion, in keeping with the YWCA's mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
Thank you, Carol, for ensuring that the women who shop in the Women's Career Closet are treated to a shopping experience they might expect at a boutique!

Sex Trafficking Awareness Concert
Featuring Remedy Drive
Saturday, October 27th

Remedy Drive will be performing at 7:30 pm

Cup O' Joy
232 S Broadway, Green Bay, WI 54303

Remedy Drive is partnered with an abolitionist group called The Exodus Road. David Zach, the lead singer, volunteers as an undercover operative and has been on 9 deployments with The Exodus Road. When the band is not on tour, David will head over to Southeast Asia or Latin America to join the counter-trafficking organization doing casework inside of brothels and red-light districts to find evidence of sex trafficking.

As important as those efforts overseas are, we know that sex trafficking is also a serious problem in Northeastern Wisconsin. In partnership with Cup O Joy and 2 Rise Above, Remedy Drive will be performing and co-speaking with the Sexual Assault Center about the significant efforts needed to combat trafficking and other forms of sexual violence in our area.

Join the Sexual Assault Center for a night of awareness for victims and survivors of sex trafficking in Northeastern Wisconsin.
