Volunteer of the Week
Ginger Zoerb is our Volunteer of the Week!

Ginger has been volunteering with Denmark Community School for over three years. Denmark Community School is a project based learning charter school. Ginger’s volunteer hours have saved money in the school budget, as their funds are limited and they rely on members from the community to help mentor students in grades 7-12. If they had to pay Ginger for all of the time that she spends with the students, they would have to cut something else in the budget. More importantly, Ginger’s time spent with the students affects them educationally and emotionally. The students respond well to Ginger because of her kind demeanor. Students hear about bad things every day in the news, so it is important for them to know that there are good people in our community that care about them. Ginger has helped students wherever help is needed, including: presentation preparation, helping individual students with their reading skills and has led a group of students to complete their first yearbook. The yearbook project, itself, was important to the students, as they were involved in the production of it and they were excited to see their memories captured through photos and words in the completed yearbook.

Ginger is an integral part of the school. The staff and the students look forward to seeing her on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ginger helps where help is needed, helping both students and staff. Whether it is reading, mentoring, or any task that needs to be accomplished, Ginger is ready and willing to step up. Her passion for the Denmark Community School makes it a better place. Ginger’s work with the students has helped give many of them the confidence that they need to be successful students and community members.

Thank you Ginger for your continued guidance and enthusiasm for helping those at Denmark Community School.
