Volunteer of the Week

St. John's Homeless Shelter has a remarkable group of ladies who go by the name "The Laundry Ladies"! For the past 8 years, these incredible women have volunteered their time every Monday year round at the Shelter washing, drying and sorting laundry from 9 am - Noon! Because of these women, the Shelter's guests have a little more dignity in their hard lives when they can put on clean clothes, or know they are sleeping in a clean bed.
These women have put themselves aside and offered their time in the laundry room even though it requires a lot of physical work. Because of them there are clean blankets and towels for the guests and each guest can have that wonderful feeling that we may take for granted, putting clean clothes on after a shower! Everyone feels better in clean clothes and the laundry ladies make that happen.
The Shelter has greatly benefited from having them volunteer their time and are forever grateful for all that they do for the Shelter and the guests!

Interns provide additional support and legal advocacy. They can sign up for two shifts each month that work with their schedule and attend monthly meetings with other advocates, to maintain protocols and expand knowledge.
